The drug 'Okumil'. Instructions

Drops for eyes "Okumil" are issued in a vial-dropper for 10 and 5 ml. Active components: zinc sulfate, diphenhydramine hydrochloride, naphazoline hydrochloride. Auxiliary ingredients: sodium hydroxide, purified water, sodium citrate, sodium chloride, benzalkonium chloride, citric acid, methylene blue dye, hypromellose 4000.

Drops "Okumil" are a combined medicine. The drug is intended for use in ophthalmology locally.

Zinc sulphate has antiseptic, anti-edematous and anti-inflammatory properties. Diphenhydramine hydrochloride blocks histamine H1 receptors selectively, facilitates allergic manifestations, eliminates edema. Nafazolin is considered a sympathomimetic, has a vasoconstrictor property, removes the swelling of the eyes, eliminates hyperemia.

The mechanism of action of the drug "Okumel" instruction causes the combined effect of these active components. Thus, the medicine, having anti-inflammatory properties, reduces the signs of discomfort and eye irritation, allergy manifestations.

After instillation of the drug, it is absorbed into the systemic bloodstream.

The drug is prescribed to relieve the symptoms of blepharoconjunctivitis, allergic conjunctivitis, irritation, discomfort in the eyes, angular conjunctivitis (chronic inflammation in the corners and at the edges of the eyelids), as an auxiliary drug in the treatment of nonspecific conjunctivitis, blepharoconjunctivitis.

The drug is not prescribed for pathologies associated with the cardiovascular system (arterial hypertension, ischemic heart disease, atherosclerosis of the pronounced course), epilepsy, angle-closure glaucoma, lactation, bronchial asthma, pregnancy, in children (up to two years). Contraindicated medication and with hyperplasia of the prostate, pheochromocytoma, stenosis of the neck in the bladder, stomach ulcer (stenosing), increased function of the thyroid gland. Contraindications to the prescription of the drug are also considered the "dry eye" syndrome, diabetes mellitus.

If another regimen is not recommended by the attending physician, the drug is applied dropwise two or three times in the affected eye per day.

If there is no result from the therapy, you should cancel the medication, consult a doctor.

In some cases, the use of the drug causes a slight reddening of the conjunctiva immediately after instillation (instillation). It is also possible to burn, blur the eyes, dilate the pupil. As a rule, the symptoms are short-lived, go away on their own and do not cause the drug to be withdrawn.

In patients with a lack of the lens (aphakia), maculopathy and central scotoma can develop. This is an indication for the withdrawal of the drug. The symptoms that appear are reversible.

As a result of resorption (resorption) of the drug, such manifestations as increased blood pressure, dizziness, ataxia, dryness in the eye mucosa, headache, nausea, palpitations are possible.

Clinical practice does not describe cases of drug overdose.

The drug with caution is prescribed with the use of agents that can raise blood pressure (arterial).

When taking the drug "Okumil" with medications that have a stimulating effect on the central nervous system, the effectiveness of the latter decreases.

It is not recommended simultaneous administration of the drug with local anesthetics for use in ophthalmology.

The drug, as a rule, is tolerated by the patients well. After opening the medication is recommended to be applied within a month.
