If the CPU 100 load

If you ask a well-known search engine about why there can be a CPU utilization of 100 percent, then the lion's share of answers, one way or another, will be related to the actions of computer viruses. Unfortunately, this is indeed the case. Although, of course, the list of reasons, due to which the CPU 100 is downloaded , is not exhausted.

Let's remember what a processor (CPU) is? This node of the computer system is a computing unit that processes digital data. Sometimes it is compared with the human brain, which, in general, is quite acceptable. If you go to any store that sells computer equipment, then in the storefronts and in the price lists you can see a huge number of different processors. The difference between one model and another is represented by performance or computational power. In other words, the faster the processor is running, the less time it takes to get the result of the calculations performed.

The above is much easier to understand by the example-comparison. In addition, it becomes clear why the CPU 100 is sometimes downloaded. Let's imagine two processors - a modern, productive and inexpensive budget model. As in the first, and in the second contains millions of transistors working at a high frequency. The higher it is, the more CPU is usually more productive (with other equal parameters). What is it necessary to know?

When they say that "downloading the CPU 100", this indicates that all the computational blocks of the processor are used to execute a portion of the program code. This increases the allocation of heat and electricity consumption. One of the reasons that causes a 100% CPU utilization is the execution of a computationally demanding program on a low-performance processor. Imagine that a child and an adult are instructed to carry a bag of 20 kg. Obviously, the first one will be exhausted, and the second will do the job "joking". Conclusion: "heavy" applications are more efficient to run on powerful CPUs.

In order for Windows systems to know the load, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and select "Task Manager". Here, the "CPU" column displays the load generated by each program currently running. Sometimes you can see the number 100. Loading a CPU of this value does not allow to work normally for other programs. An exception is a process called "System Inactivity".

For him, the load is 98-99% normal. In this case, the HLT command is cycled or the SpeedStep mechanism is activated, aimed at reducing power consumption. In this case, other applications get access to the computing power in full.

If the third-party program constantly creates the maximum load, then first you need to check it for viruses. To do this, in the Task Manager, click on the desired application (with 100% load), open its properties, find the path to the file. Now you should open an online virus scan site and check the "suspect".

If everything is fine, then you need to search the web for information, for which you need a running process. For example, it could be a device driver module that does not work correctly. In this case, it needs to be updated to the new version.
