The drug "Clotrimazole" (candles), the instruction specifies, is used to combat fungal infections localized in the genitals (in women). It is a derivative of imidazole.

At the moment, there are three versions of candles - one hundred, two hundred or five hundred milligrams of active ingredient (clotrimazole) in each. Additional components are lactose, corn starch, soda, tartaric acid, aerosil, stearic magnesium. The drug is distributed in packs of cardboard for three, six or nine vaginal tablets. In addition, there is a special applicator, which allows the most effective and simple introduction of the medication into the vagina.

The drug "Clotrimazole" (candles), the instruction informs, has an effect on a large number of fungal species. The mechanism of action of the drug is based on the destruction of a cell of pathogenic microflora (the inhibition of the synthesis of ergosterol, the main component of the structure of the cell membrane of fungi, occurs). The drug is active in relation to yeast fungi (Candida including), dermatophytes, mold fungi, as well as to microorganisms that contribute to the appearance of colored lichens and erythrasms. Trichomonases, staphylococci, streptococci and some other microorganisms also destroy the drug Klotrimazol (candles).

The instruction prescribes the use of this form of medicinal product if the genital organs are affected by such fungal infections as candidiasis and trichomoniasis. In addition, this drug is widely used in the period of preparation for surgical interventions and other therapeutic manipulations on the genitals, since it significantly reduces the risk of infectious diseases.

Vaginal tablets should preferably be installed in the evening, before going to bed. The specialist selects the concentration of the active active ingredient individually. As mentioned above, the candle is installed using a special applicator supplied in the kit. The average course of treatment is six days. It can be prolonged on the recommendation of the attending physician. As a rule, a second course is prescribed if the therapy has not produced the expected effect.

When using the present pharmaceutical agent, unpleasant sensations in the abdomen, allergic reactions to the skin can occur. At sexual contacts during the period of treatment the partner can feel a pricking and a burning sensation of a sexual member.

Contraindications

The drug "Clotrimazole" (suppositories) with thrush at the early stages of gestation (in the first three months) is not assigned. The drug is also contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity.

The drug "Clotrimazole" (candles) can be used for lactation.

Do not take this dosage form orally. Candles are designed exclusively for intravaginal use. Also, the drug is not installed during menstruation. It is advisable to warn your doctor about taking other pharmaceuticals. Treatment with this drug can be combined with the intake of vitamin and vegetable supplements to food.

The drug "Klotrimazol" can slow down the action of other antifungal drugs ("Natamycin", "Nystatin"), used locally.

It is noted the need for treatment of both partners in order to avoid relapse of the disease.

In the absence of proper therapeutic effect, the repeated diagnosis of the diagnosis should be made within a month.
