The Concept of Modern Democracy

A lot has been said about the development of a democratic society lately. Often, as an example of the triumph of democratic thought, the United States leads. But is it. England, and then the United States developed along the capitalist path of development. Let us turn to the encyclopedic concept of capitalism. Capitalism is an economic system of production and distribution based on private property, universal legal equality and freedom of enterprise. The main criterion for making economic decisions is the desire to increase capital, to profit. Capitalism is primarily an economic system. But can a democratic state have a capitalist economic system?

Democracy is a kind of political structure of the state, in which the people exercise the legislative and executive functions of the government directly (direct democracy) or through their representatives (representative democracy).

Under the democratic structure of society, the people are the main power. This is in conflict with the main goal of capitalism, profit. With increasing capital. And as a rule in society, not all members of society possess the accumulation of capital. As a result, there will be a division of society into classes. The main factor in determining belonging to a particular class will be the amount of capital. As a rule, the concentration of capital in limited circles leads to the emergence of an oligarchy. Following the main goal of capitalism, profit and capital increase become the overriding goal, compared with the interests of the state. As rules, financially independent from the state members of society have great opportunities for self-realization, etc. As a result, more financially wealthy members of society will have greater influence in society. This development of the situation contradicts the idea of developing a democratic society where, by definition, each member of society has equal rights and equal opportunities. Proceeding from the above, the capitalist system of economics contradicts the very idea of democracy. In the US, they failed to realize the idea of democracy. The USA is a prototype of capitalist democracy. Capitalist democracy is such a form of government of the state where the availability of capital determines the degree of influence on society itself and the state as a whole. So that capitalism can not be a satellite of democracy. To develop democracy, several forms of economic development should be considered. Socialist system of economic development in the presence of private property. For the development of modern democracy, the availability of all natural resources of the state in private ownership is unacceptable. In any industry, the state must have the decisive word. (The joint-stock system provided that the state has 51% of the shares). From socialism, equal provision of all citizens, both services and opportunities for self-realization, should be adopted. In a modern democratic society there should be no difference on the basis of the availability and quantity of capital. The development of democracy can come to such an understanding as modern social democracy. This is such a kind of democracy, when the people not only have the right to power, but also has equal opportunities, regardless of the financial situation. And it is protected in all respects by social programs and social institutions. The work of the entire democratic society should be directed, first of all, to man as a person. The concentration of the greatest influence in the person of the state fully corresponds to the concept of democracy as a whole. After all, democracy is characterized by the state-people system. Where one can not exist without the other and both have equal rights and opportunities and mutual responsibility to each other. So that capitalism is not when it can not be a companion of democracy.
