The cities of the Tyumen region: the wealth of the country

In the south-eastern part of Western Siberia, the area is located, which in its area is second only to Yakutia and the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The harsh climate, because of which the greater part of the territory is referred to the regions of the Far North, does not allow to equip it, and only the central part and the southern part are inhabited by the inhabitants.

Tyumen region: history

The region was established in 1944 by the allocation of towns and villages from the Omsk and Kurgan regions. However, the first cities of the Tyumen region, or rather the settlements, appeared in the 13th-16th centuries on the Tyumen River.

In 1586 the construction of two fortresses began, which meant the creation of the Russian Tyumen jail. A year later, Tobolsk was founded, and in 1708 was appointed administrative center of the Siberian province, which in 1796 was transformed into Tobolsk province. Since 1920, officially the Tobolsk province was renamed Tyumen.

What can we say on the issue of interest to us? Today the cities of the Tyumen region are 22 districts and 5 city districts, the capital of the region is Tyumen. In addition to such large cities as Tobolsk, Ishim, Yalutorovsk, where the population is more than 40 thousand people, the city also includes urban settlements, where the number of residents does not exceed 10 thousand. But they also have their important economic significance (Abatsky, Vagay, Lesnoy, etc.)

The territory of the Tyumen region is inhabited by a wide variety of peoples. The majority are Russians, Tatars and Ukrainians. Also represented are local peoples, such as the Nenets, Khanty and Chuvashes.

Economy, infrastructure and culture

The main cities of the Tyumen region are the main sources of its development. Many know that the region is rich in minerals, due to which it is one of the most "prosperous" and ranks first in industrial production. In particular, the fuel industry accounts for more than 80% of the total industrial production.

In addition to mining, there are mechanical engineering enterprises on the territory of the region: tractor trailers, equipment for oil refining, geological prospecting equipment. Chemical, woodworking and logging industries are also well developed.

Despite the fact that most of the region is referred to the Far North, in a small area engaged in agriculture, growing potatoes, grain, animal feed. In addition to growing plants, engaged in large cattle and dairy production.

The Tyumen region is rich in cultural objects, it only needs to remember that Grigory Rasputin was born here and spent his last days with his family Nicholas II.

The main cities of the region: Tyumen, Tobolsk, Yalutorovsk

Where the name "Tyumen" came from is not known. Some argue that from the Tatars who once occupied the territory, others say that from the Bashkir word "tumende", which means "below", and still others believe that the name was taken from the old Chingi-Tura, which meant "the city on Ways ".

Today Tyumen is a developed city with a population of 720,000, where the bulk of the population is Russians. Lives also local people - Mansi, but everyone is called Tyumen.

Here, industry and infrastructure are developed, a good transport interchange (the presence of 2 airports, a railway station and major highways).

Other cities of the Tyumen region play an important role in the development of the economy.

Tobolsk, as described above, was once the capital of the province and today is one of the major cities of the region with a population of 98 thousand people. A well-developed fuel and energy complex, numbering about 6 enterprises associated with oil and gas pipelines, as well as machine-building enterprises, production of building materials, art crafts (art factory, restoration workshops, icon painting school)

Yalutorovsk is a city built in 1659 as a prison and settlement on the banks of the Tobol River. Today it is one of five important cities, where about 40 thousand people live. This is an industrial center, where the main field of activity is the food industry (85% of the output), construction industry, timber processing, and the metal industry are also developed.

Ishim City, Tyumen Region

Another large city in the region is Ishim, whose population is 65 thousand people. The foundation date is 1670, when Korkina Sloboda was established as a place for holding annual fairs. However, this territory became for many a permanent place of residence, gradually expanded and in 1782 became a city. It is interesting that the city and the river in the Tyumen region began to bear one name because of the location - Ishim.

Like most cities in the region, Ishim today is an industrial center with a machine building plant, a mechanical plant, oil pipelines management, a shoe and sewing factory, and factories and food processing plants.

In terms of infrastructure, there are schools and secondary schools, hospitals, museums and cultural centers.
