The National Flag of the Republic was approved by the session of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia on July 23, 1992 in Sukhum after the decision to end the Constitution of the Abkhaz ASSR of 1978 and the restoration of the Constitution of the SSR of the Republic of Armenia in 1925. The flag is marked with 7 alternating strips of green and white in the left Corner on top of the flag is a red rectangle with an open palm of the right hand of white color and above the palm in a semicircle - seven stars with five white ends. Opened white hand on a red background - serves as a symbol of Abkhazian statehood. 7 five-pointed stars above the palm serve as a mystical amulet and symbolize the ancient astral sign (there are even on the ancient amphorae of the Apsils of the ancestors of the Abkhazians) and seven former countries of the North Caucasian republic: Abkhazia, Kabarda, Checheno-Ingushetia, Karachaevo-Balkaria, Ossetia, DagestanAdygeya ,. The National Emblem of the Republic of Abkhazia was confirmed by the session of the RA Armed Forces on July 23, 1992 in Sukhum. The coat of arms is made in the form of a shield, divided vertically into two equal parts of green and white. The outline of the coat of arms is painted in gold, from the bottom of the emblem is a golden eight-pointed star and in the upper part, on a white and green background, there are two eight-pointed stars of gold color. In the center of the coat of arms is the rider's contour, flying on a fairy-tale horse and launching an arrow into the clouds. The script of the emblem is connected with the heroic epic of the Abkhazians, which also exists among the fraternal peoples of the North Caucasus. Green color symbolizes youth and life and white spirituality. A large eight-pointed star symbolizes the solar sign and the other two is a mix of the cultural worlds of the east and west.
