Temperature with monthly

Even in the century before last, gynecologists noticed that women have a fever with menstruation, and also shortly before their onset and at the end it changes. And these changes are not the same - before the monthly it rises, and after their offensive decreases.

Later, scientists found that the cause of temperature changes is the features of the endocrine system and the ovaries. The most accurate measure in this case is the rectal temperature. This is explained by the fact that with the onset of menstrual flow of blood to the ovaries. On other parts of the body, changes in blood circulation are extremely rare. Sometimes the temperature is measured in the vagina. This method can also give the result of temperature fluctuations during menstruation.

The change in the blood supply of internal female genital organs is also due to the fact that during monthly periods an influx of hotter blood, saturated with nutrients and oxygen, occurs. Especially intensively, blood flows to the ovaries before the onset of menstruation, and therefore there is an increased temperature with menstruation. During menstruation, blood is gradually depleted of oxygen, chemical processes are declining - and the temperature decreases. Simultaneously, the veins of the ovaries flow hormones that were synthesized there before the menstruation.

Rectal temperature is best measured immediately after sleep, when the body is in complete rest. This temperature is called basal. In addition to the menstrual period, the basal temperature also increases during ovulation and pregnancy. In some cases, basal temperature may give unstable indicators when a woman, for example, is under stress or during long trips (business trips, holidays, etc.).

If basal temperature measurements are taken from the first days of menstruation, then its indicators can be approximately in the range of 36.5-36.7 degrees. Approximately in the middle of the cycle when ovulation occurs, the temperature reaches 37 degrees, sometimes slightly higher. The phase of the menstrual cycle before ovulation is called follicular. In such an elevated state, the temperature with the monthly can be kept until the next cycle. This phase is called luteal. With the onset of menstrual temperature gradually decreases.

Thus, from this brief review of the menstrual cycle, it can be clearly seen that the temperature measured in the vagina or rectum rises in the period before the menstrual cycle, then it decreases after the onset.

Sometimes the temperature with monthly does not change, that is, there is no decrease in the indices, which is mainly due to pathology. When the menstruation is accompanied by pain, the temperature can stay high for a while and after the onset of menstruation.

The main cause of the condition when the fever keeps at monthly is endometriosis, when the pain and the increase in degrees can be observed throughout the entire period of menstruation. Endometriosis causes inflammation of the uterine mucosa, which explains the increase in temperature.

Another reason, when the temperature after the onset of menstruation does not decrease, but goes up, there may be a pregnancy with minor discharge. At the onset of pregnancy, as in ovulation, the temperature inevitably rises during menstruation. And if there is any pathology, pregnancy is accompanied by blood secretions, and in the first month a woman can take it for false menstruation.

If the woman is healthy and the pregnancy has not occurred, then by observing the basal temperature, you can accurately predict the onset of menstruation. This may be necessary for a non-permanent cycle or when planning any activities (travel, holiday, etc.), especially if the woman feels mildly ill during the menstruation. So, if an increased temperature is detected, a woman can determine that the menstrual cycle is in the state of the second phase, and if it decreases, that menstruation is about to come. For this, the basal temperature should be measured regularly and only at rest. Having thoroughly studied her menstrual cycle and especially the state of her body during menstruation, a woman can be sure of her health.
