Structure of the human skeleton: iliac bone

The iliac region is one of the parts of the back wall of the abdomen and has the shape of a hollow. Its upper boundary is the iliac bone (PC), in particular its crest, the front border - the beginning of the bone and ligament, the inner - the connection with the sacrum, the lower border represents the nameless line. The PC at the same time acts as a skeleton of this area, to which the muscles of the back wall of the abdomen are attached. Together, muscles and bones form a dense case.

Thus, large iliac bones are attached to the sacrum on both sides, which have rounded apices, so they are well probed on the human body.

The ileum is the largest of all the bones that form the pelvic section of the human skeleton. Its lower part is somewhat thickened and is called the body of the PC, which forms the upper part of the acetabulum. The sacral and femoral bones are connected with the iliac bone body. During puberty, the PC fuses with the pubic and ischium bones in the region of the acetabulum, thus forming the pelvic bone.

On the inner side of the body is a line in the form of an arc, and above is a wide part of the bone, called the wing of the PC, the lower part of which is narrowed, and the upper part is expanded. The margin of the wing is thickened, the abdominal muscles are attached to it, traces of which are imprinted on the bones in the form of three lines (lips): external, internal and intermediate. It should be noted that the upper parts of the wings are named Crests of the iliac bones. The comb is S-shaped and terminates at the front of the front upper PC, which can be probed on the human body through the skin, behind - by the posterior upper ileal bone.

Note that the anterior edge of the ilium bone fuses with the pubic bone, and the posterior margin borders on the sciatic notch. The outer part of the wing is the place of attachment of the gluteal muscles, and on the inner part of the wing, called the iliac fossa, there is an articular auricular surface, which is the place of connection with the surface of the sacrum. Above it is iliac tuberosity, which serves to fasten ligaments.

The iliac fossa is the site of the iliac muscle. It adjoins the muscle lumbar and originates from the upper part of the fovea, the inner lip of the crest and the anterior sacral and lumbar ligaments. Together with the large lumbar muscle, the iliac muscle Participates in the formation of muscle mass of the abdominal wall (posterior). Also, her functions include hip flexion.

So, the top part of the PC is rounded, the front and back form two projections, and the outer part is somewhat elevated. In general, the relief of the bone depends on the muscles, in the attachment points of which different lines, ridges, pits and awns were formed.

In this way, The iliac bone is one of the three components that form a single pelvic bone. In humans, it connects to the bone of the sacral (the fusion of the five vertebrae) and fuses with the other two components of the pelvis in the region of the acetabulum. In this area, the muscles are attached, in particular the iliac-lumbar region, which, due to its contractions, causes the limb to move forward, that is, controls their movement, and stabilizes the pelvis, flexes the hip and the lumbar spine.

Summing up, it should be noted again that the iliac bone , The function of which is to strengthen the muscles, Feels during the formation and control of movements of the lower limbs. Jointed with the joints and moved by the muscles, the PC also forms protection for the soft parts of the body, while providing it with smooth movements. In addition, as part of the human skeleton, the ileum serves as a framework, to which other parts of the body, namely the lower limbs, are attached.
