Stroganov Manor in Marino: excursions and photos of tourists

Leningrad region boasts an incredible number of palace and park ensembles and ancient estates, many of which have been preserved to our days in good condition. A worthy example is the Manor of Stroganov Marino in the village of Andrianovo. The history of this estate begins in the first half of the XVIII century. In what condition is the estate today and are there any excursions here?

By pages of history

In 1726, in the area near the modern village of Andrianovo, the construction of the estate began. Managed the erection and improvement of the estate personally Baroness Mary Yakovlevna Stroganov - the Emperor Peter the Great's queen and the wife of G.D. Stroganoff. It is worth noting that already at that time the family of the Stroganoffs was fairly well-known and rich. Originally the main manor house was wooden. The estate of Stroganovs in 1811 was radically changed. The new owner of the estate is Sofya Vladimirovna Stroganova, in girlhood - Golitsyna. The estate gets its modern name - Marino in honor of the founder of Maria Yakovlevna. Sofya Vladimirovna decides to build a new palace. The architect A.N. Voronikhin, and then his disciples. The final version of the future master's house is created by I.F. Kolodin. The Stroganov Manor has a semi-circular shape in plan. This is a two-story building.

The main house is designed in classical style and very similar to the Great Pavlovsky Palace. The manor had as many as five grand entrances, each of which was decorated with sculptures of lions. The palace was completed in 1817, after which the landlady paid the most attention to the decoration of the interiors and landscaping of the garden. Gradually in the park there are pavilions and other buildings. Thanks to its rich and fashionable decoration, as well as the versatile personality of the owner, the Marino estate becomes the center of secular life. The most noble families of St. Petersburg came here regularly, including representatives of the ruling dynasty. Sofya Vladimirovna was also engaged in social activities and economy. On the territory of the farm there was an agricultural school, several plants, fruit and vegetables for sale. Descendants of the Stroganoff-Golitsyn family owned the estate until 1914, but none of them paid so much attention to this place as Sofya Vladimirovna.

Manor Marino in the days of the USSR and modern Russia

The newest history of the estate Stroganov begins after the revolution of 1917. Like all similar palace and park complexes, Marino was nationalized. In the main manor house opened a museum for tourists. Part of the property of the estate (mostly art and rare books) was transferred to the Russian Museum and the Hermitage. In 1927, the palace opens a rest house for scientists, and a little later the building is transferred to the experimental station of the exploration institute. The Stroganovs' manor suffered very badly during the Second World War. Reconstruction was carried out in 1959, after which the palace became a boarding school, and then a dispensary. It would seem that the historical and museum history of the luxurious estate should have ended there. But in 2008 the estate became private property. After major repairs and reconstruction works, the chic park and main house were again opened for visitors.

Stroganoff Manor: photo of the palace and park today

The Palace in Marino today is restored, it houses a museum exposition and a modern hotel complex. The facade of the building is painted in primeval colors, even stone lions are in their places. A large-scale reconstruction of the park was carried out. Landscaping was carried out according to ancient plans and watercolors. In the English park you can see sculptures and various interesting buildings. Manor Stroganov-Golitsyns Marino has always been famous for its ponds, cascades, bridges and grottoes. To admire the recreated works of landscape art can be here today. Many tourists also like the small stone turret at the entrance to the territory and the Chinese corner of the garden with the original bridge and gazebo. A picturesque but slightly sad place is the ruins of an old church.

Modern service and luxury of the XIX century

Today, the Marino Estate is a private cultural and entertainment complex. In the part of the palace is a modern hotel. Anyone can rent a room decorated in the spirit of the XIX century. And this is not just another stylization, but a qualitative reconstruction of the noble chambers. Guests are offered to rent banquet halls, grand parlors and cellars of the manor. Here you can hold a banquet, cultural or business event. According to an individual agreement with the administration, it is possible to rent lawns, pergolas or the entire park area. The Marino Estate is the ideal place for a wedding celebration with an on-site registration. Conducted in the palace and park complex and social events. Some of them are free, while others need to buy a ticket in advance or sign up.

Actual information for visitors

The estate of Count Stroganov after restoration became one of the tourist centers of the Leningrad region. Entrance to the territory of the English park is free. The museum exposition and other services of the cultural and entertainment complex are paid separately. At the estate there is a stable where you can order horse riding or riding in the carriage, as well as rent a horse for a photo shoot. How to get to Marino?

The Stroganov Manor is located about 70 kilometers from St. Petersburg. The nearest town is Tosno, from it to the old estate about 20 km. If you go on a trip on your own car, then you should orient yourself to the village of Andrianovo. To get to this village, you need to leave St. Petersburg along the Moskovskoye highway and move straight ahead to the signpost for Tarasovo and Andrianovo. Next you need to navigate the signs of the cultural and entertainment complex. Very soon, on the right side, Marino will appear - the Stroganov estate. How to get there by public transport? The easiest way to book an organized trip. You can take your turn on a suburban train to Tosno, and then take a regular bus to Andrianovo.

Reviews of tourists

Every year, a huge number of residents of the Leningrad region and travelers from other regions of Russia visit the estate of Marino. Impressions of the excursion and walks in the park are different for everyone. Many tourists really like this place. The park territory pleases with picturesque landscapes, it is clean and beautiful at any time of the year. Some do not like that the manor is used today as a hotel and a restaurant. And indeed, there are no original historical objects in the interiors (except for the museum exposition), wedding ceremonies and banquets are held regularly in the palace. However, it should be noted that the restoration of such a building and a huge park area requires a lot of material investment. If the manor remained in state ownership, then it would have waited for its transformation into a museum for more than a decade.
