Spiegel Boris Isaakovich: biography and personal life

Spiegel Boris Isaakovich is a Russian politician and businessman of Jewish origin. The Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz describes him as an oligarch who is "closely associated with the Kremlin."

Childhood

Where did Spiegel Boris Isaakovich begin his life? His biography began quite normally, like that of millions of other Soviet citizens of the post-war generation. He was born in Ukraine, in Khmelnitsky, in 1953. Boris's mother was an accountant, and her father was a salesman. The family lived very modestly, if not poorly. Up to the departure of Boris in 18 years for urgent military service huddled five in a one-room apartment parents, Borya with the elder sister and their uncle by the mother.

Strange, but despite such difficult everyday conditions, Spiegel Boris Isaakovich retains the brightest memories of his childhood, his parents, especially his mother, recalls her with some special warmth. In general, such a deep understanding between the generations of one family, based on an innate sense of respect for the ancestors, traditions, moral norms, originating in Judaism, is common to many Jewish families.

Origins of personality formation

The family in which Shpigel Boris Isaakovich grew was not religious. However, in the town of Staro-Konstantinovo, where the grandfather and grandmother of Boris lived, the spirit of the pre-revolutionary Jewish town was preserved. The pensioners observed the Sabbath there, gathered for collective prayers, although there was no synagogue in the town. Grandfather Boris read and wrote in Hebrew. It was there, according to Shpigel himself, that he felt himself to be a Jew.

Years of study and service in the army

After school Boris graduated from the technical school in Khmelnitsky. Then there were two years of service in the army, in the internal troops. He served in Lviv, and from the army he had very good memories. At 19 years old young soldier Boris Spiegel was admitted to the party.

After the service, he entered the Kamenets-Podolsky Pedagogical Institute. VP Zatonsky, at the Faculty of History. According to him, this high school had a very high level of teaching both history and political economy, which Boris was very interested in.

Spiegel recalls that during his studies he had to live in an old student hostel, which was located in a former monastery of the XV century, and the rooms served as former monastic cells, in which 20 people settled.

The beginning of public and labor activity

Already in his student years, Boris began to actively engage in social work. He was a member of the Khmelnitsky City Committee of the Komsomol, and at 22 he even became his secretary. Boris repeatedly headed the student construction teams, created a student VIA "Homeland", in general was by nature organizer.

After graduating from the institute and becoming a certified economist, Boris Shpigel made a regular career for ten years, having risen in 1990 to the post of deputy director for economics at the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Applied Molecular Biology and Genetics. While in this position, Der Spiegel had full information about the enterprises associated with biotechnology, including pharmaceutical plants. This helped him in choosing a business direction.

The beginning and the turn of the business career

When the country was allowed to create private enterprises, our hero established Biotech, which acted on the Russian market as one of the distributors of medicines. In fact, at first, in the first half of the 90s, it was not a major supplier to the Russian market. In addition, there were other, more powerful firms, for example "Protek".

But Boris Isaakovich has chosen the right and promising direction of business, namely, participation in public procurement of medicines for various state and departmental medical institutions. From year to year he established and strengthened numerous acquaintances with responsible officials (for example, with the vice speaker of the State Duma Gennady Seleznev), which allowed Biotech confidently win most tenders for the supply of medicines. And when in 2005 it was decided to increase the purchase of medicines by six times six times the state, the lion's share of this state order went to Shpigel, which immediately became one of the top three market leaders.

Creation of FIG

Seriously getting rich on drugs trade, Der Spiegel drew attention to the corresponding Russian enterprises. The company "Biotech" for $ 30 million buys a controlling stake in the Penza plant "Biosintez" and for $ 20 million - Yoshkar-Ola vitamin plant "Marbiopharm". The first enterprise in general is strategic for the Spiegel company. After all, it buys its products from its inception.

Not without reason from 2003 to 2013, Boris Isaakovich from the submission of the governor represented the Penza region in the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. Here he actively fought against tightening state control over the certification of medicines. And he succeeded.

In March 2013, Boris Shpigel resigned from the Federation Council. Today he officially holds the post of chairman of the board of directors of Biotech.

Social activity

He was deputy chairman of the Party of Revival of Russia since 2002. In 2010, he founded the "World without Nazism", an organization that has close ties with the Russian government and was formed to affirm the Russian version of history, in particular with respect to the incorporation of the Baltic states into the USSR and to the Holodomor. This was followed by the creation of the Commission of the Russian Federation to counter attempts to falsify history to the detriment of Russia's interests in 2012.

The organization "The World Without Nazism" is mentioned in the annual review of the Estonian Security Police as a propaganda organization aimed at promoting a "Soviet approach to World War II." She works closely with the Finnish antifascist committee.

Spiegel is also the chairman of the organization World Congress of Russian-speaking Jewry (WKRE), an organization that, in accordance with The Jewish Chronicle, works on behalf of the Kremlin, despite its nominal independence. In 2008, during the war in South Ossetia, he accused Georgia of committing genocide, acting as president of the WCRP, which led to criticism from the Israeli members of the congress.

The political credo of the public figure Boris Spiegel

The Jewish media write that he is a firm follower of Putin's policy. During the fighting in the Caucasus in 2008, he joined the Kremlin's propaganda campaign, calling for the establishment of a tribunal to investigate "war crimes of Georgia" and "genocide."

Spiegel accused the countries that used to be part of the communist bloc (with the exception of Russia and Belarus), in "quick nacification". He also criticizes the "Western European democracies" for allegedly their role in unleashing the Second World War. Der Spiegel proposes to make a general history textbook for the whole of Europe on the basis of "serious scientific research", as well as decisions of the international judicial and political authorities on the basis of which the postwar world order was built.

He is one of the few Russian politicians who openly proclaim themselves as adherents of Judaism. On his initiative, monuments were erected in the Israeli city of Netanya in honor of soldiers of the Red Army.

Scandals around the name of Boris Spiegel

What attracts loud scandalous stories to such a person as Spiegel Boris Isaakovich. The photo below shows that he openly emphasizes his commitment to the canons of Judaism. This causes many to feel irritation and even hatred. The web was repeatedly disseminated defamatory materials. So, it was reported that Spiegel Boris Isaakovich, whose previous conviction was related to the early 1980s, was accused of sexual harassment of minors. In the web, even a copy of the verdict with condemnation for three years of imprisonment has appeared. This fake was quickly exposed, but the sludge, as they say, stayed, which, apparently, the organizers of this action wanted.

In January 2011, Spiegel was the subject of media attention when he was robbed for $ 280,000 in cash in his hotel room.

In connection with the election of our hero in his time as a senator, accusations of illegally combining the civil service with business were showered upon him. What did Spiegel Boris Isaakovich do? His wife was declared the owner of shares of the company "Biotech" with an income of more than 100 million rubles. In a year, and our hero supposedly remained to live on one salary. But after Spiegel's departure from the Federation Council, this scheme was obviously no longer needed, and the spouse probably just returned her husband's shares so that he could return to the company's management without hindrance.

His daughter, Svetlana, after a divorce with Baskov married a large Ukrainian state official. She already has two sons: Bronislav and David.
