Sluggish schizophrenia. Symptoms and signs

Sluggish schizophrenia is a term long known in psychiatry. The roots of this diagnosis go back to Soviet times, when this type of disorder was diagnosed in most citizens who disagreed with the party's policies. It was very beneficial for a person to discover such a disease, since he unconditionally declared himself incompetent and, accordingly, did not present more danger to the authorities.

It is not surprising that in those oppressive times no one studied the signs of this ailment, because the frustration was interesting only from the standpoint of punitive measures. To date, sluggish schizophrenia has been studied by domestic doctors far from the degree that their Western colleagues did. It is not known how much more time will be needed for our fellow citizens to become confidential to psychiatrists.

In spite of everything, the term "sluggish schizophrenia" was invented not by politicians, but by doctors who identified this disease as a special form of endogenous psychosis.

Each of us is probably shaking at the mention of this dangerous disorder. Some even find signs of sluggish schizophrenia, mistakenly accepting for them the symptoms of normal fatigue or stress. According to research, about 85 percent of cases of this disease result in complete recovery of the patient. The main thing is to undergo a course of treatment with special drugs on time. In addition, schizotypal disorder as such is not so common. It is necessary to distinguish it from all kinds of personality disorders or accentuation of character. It is these disorders of the psyche that are observed in those who turn to the psychiatrist most often.

What are the symptoms of schizophrenia in adults?

It is very important to pay attention to the behavior of your family and friends. In no case should one ignore the following changes in human behavior:

  • Unreasonable coldness and isolation in behavior, reluctance to communicate even with the closest people, indifference to the requests and problems of others.
  • Neglect of elementary rules of personal hygiene.
  • Obvious behavior strangeness.
  • Proposals are built competently, but too pathetic. And all in one intonation is pronounced.
  • The slowness of action is becoming more and more noticeable. Passivity in relation to all that is happening.
  • The stream of thoughts alternates with their sudden breakage.
  • Complaints of the patient for the absence of any emotions, a feeling of complete devastation.
  • The ability to share emotions with loved ones is lost.
  • What used to bring joy, does not cause the slightest reaction in the soul.
  • Inability to be satisfied or dissatisfied.

The above symptoms may indicate that a person has a sluggish schizophrenia. However, the final diagnosis should be made available to specialists, since neurosis can also be accompanied by such changes.

The most dangerous are the symptoms of the first rank, directly indicating that a person suffers from a serious mental disorder. The indicators of the disease in question are as follows:

  • Thoughts acquire a surround sound, passing into the category of sound hallucinations.
  • Constantly there are voices in the head, which argue with each other.
  • A voice in the head can give comments about what is happening around.
  • Confidence that someone's body is controlled by someone else.
  • The effect of thought radio broadcasting (it creates the feeling that the radio is constantly working in the head).
  • The feeling of the alienation of thoughts, in which it seems that someone else puts them in the head of the patient.

Sluggish schizophrenia is a disease that is accompanied by the erasure of boundaries separating a person's personality from the outside world. At the same time internal events are no longer separated from the external ones, a kind of loosening of the established faces takes place.
