Signs and treatment of cervicitis

Cervicitis is a gynecological disease, the causative agent of which are various microorganisms, for example, fungi or viruses. There are many ways of the disease development: inflammations, insufficient or incorrect hygiene, promiscuous sex life, hormonal contraception, pathological internal processes in the body, cervical polyps, which have not been treated, and so on. The manifestation of the disease is determined by the appearance of microbes, which are the causative agent of cervicitis in each specific case. In order for the treatment to be effective, it is required to diagnose the disease correctly!

Symptoms

Cervicitis during exacerbation is characterized by more than intense manifestations, which are difficult to overlook. Women with this diagnosis complain of a burning sensation and itching in the genitals, aching abdominal pain, increased discharge, causing significant discomfort. After sexual intercourse, with exacerbation of cervicitis, bleeding may occur with varying intensity. The disease is dangerous because when untimely or illiterate treatment begins thickening of the walls of the cervix. And this process can lead to serious consequences (such as erosion). Diagnosis and treatment of cervicitis Begin with a complete examination of the cervix and uterine cavity with the help of gynecological mirrors and colposcope. In the stage of chronic course, hypertrophy and a strong thickening of the walls are noted, while the allocation is marked with scanty ones. After colposcopy, biological smears of the swabs of the discharge from the cervical canal are performed . Thanks to these methods of diagnosis, it is possible to establish the origin of pathogens and begin treatment of the cervix.

Among the main features are the following:

- edema of the cervix due to increased blood flow in this area;

- relatively small discharge of mucus.

Examinations and tests

The following methods are used:

- colposcopic examination;

- Biochemical blood tests;

- Laparoscopic and hysteroscopic examination according to indications;

- US of internal organs of small pelvis;

- blood test for the Rh factor and HIV;

- a smear to identify the bacterial flora of the vagina.

Treatment of cervicitis

After the above-mentioned examinations and tests, certain drugs are prescribed (taking into account the sensitivity of the bacteria / viruses to antibiotic agents). If cervicitis is characterized by a prolonged course, then vitamin complexes and supplements are prescribed to support immunity. To prevent the secondary development of the infection, a woman needs to maintain sexual rest until the cervicitis treatment is completed. Preventive measures that prevent the onset and development of the disease include regular gynecological examinations, restoration of the uterine neck in case of injury, proper management of labor, use of barrier contraception with casual partners. Treatment of cervicitis is determined on the basis of the causes that led to the appearance of this disease (in each specific case). Radio therapy can be included in therapy on modern equipment. Similar procedures are performed on an outpatient basis, the duration may be five to ten minutes.
