Create a new area

The history of Tikhoretsk has an indissoluble connection with the construction of the Vladikavkaz railway line. In 1860, Tsar Alexander II signed an important document for the city. It gave an indication of the creation of a new administrative-territorial unit of Russia - the Kuban region. Such a decision was made with the aim of economic development of the southern lands, as well as for solving the tasks of political consolidation of the country in these territories.

In May 1860, a decree was issued to begin construction of the Vladikavkaz railway branch. In the future, this way had a significant impact on the economic development of the Kuban region.

During the construction along the new canvas, settlements began to appear. They were intended for railwaymen, among whom there were many peasants who left their villages in search of earnings.

In 1862, the light saw a new decree, which talked about the settlement of the Kuban. Its inhabitants were immigrants from the Voronezh, Chernigov, Kursk, Orel provinces and some other areas.

The foundation of the Tikhoretsky hamlet

The history of Tikhoretsk began in 1874. It is the year of the founding of the Russian railway station of the same name. May 17, 1874 for the first time there was a train. It was a freight train heading south.

Quite unofficially near the station a small settlement was formed. Thus began the story of Tikhoretsk. In 1882, the station built the first wooden building of the station. At that time the population of Tikhoretsk consisted of less than fifty inhabitants. Some time later, new railroad lines were put into operation with a direction to Novorossiysk, Ekaterinodar and Tsaritsyn. After that, the station became a junction.

1895 was the starting point in the creation of the Tikhoretsky farm. He appeared on the site of the already grown up by that time stationery village. In this settlement, which is part of the subordination of the Tikhoretsky station, there were already more than 2,000 inhabitants. By 1917, the population of the farm at the expense of the newcomers increased to 14 thousand people.

The development of the farm

In a comparatively short period of time, Tikhoretsk from a small township settlement turned into a transport and industrial center of the northern Kuban. The wooden building of the station in 1883 was replaced by a brick one. In the 1890s, locomotive workshops began to function here. At the beginning of the 20th century, a locomotive depot and grain barns were built at the station. At the same time, numerous private industrial and commercial enterprises began to work in Tikhoretsk.

An important role in the development of the farm was played by engineer Boris Akimov. At the beginning of the last century, he served as the head of the Tikhoretsky distance. With the active participation of Akimov in 1902, the construction of the railwaymen's club was carried out. Menshikov.

This was one of the first institutions of culture on the entire Vladikavkaz route. A little later, in 1907, Akimov initiated the construction of a two-year female school, which later became a gymnasium. In 1910, on his initiative, began another school. It was a two-year school for men. Efforts of Akimov to gifted people from poor families in these schools were paid a scholarship. After the engineer's retirement, cash payments were named in his honor.

The coming of Soviet power

The revolutionary wave that swept the whole of Russia, could not but affect the city of Tikhoretsk. Already in 1900 the first spontaneous performances of workers of steam locomotive workshops were held at the station. Since 1902, strikes and rallies have taken a mass and frequent character. Major uprisings covered all of Russia. Tikhoretsk raised a large wave of indignation as early as 1905.

The official proclamation of Soviet power was held in 1918 in the club of railwaymen. M. Men'shikov was elected chairman of the Soviet of Soldiers 'and Workers' Deputies. Until July 1918, Tikhoretsk was the military center of the Kuban-Black Sea Red Army. Further, this settlement was occupied by the Volunteer Army, which installed the Ataman government in the town. The return of Soviet power to the station occurred only in 1920.

Change Status

In 1923 there was a significant event. Farm Tikhoretsk received the status of the city. In those years he belonged to the Kuban-Black Sea region and was on the territory of the Caucasian department. In 1924, Tikhoretsk became a district center, and two years later it was included in the list of settlements in the North Caucasus region. The city grew rapidly and developed. In 1926, the number of its population exceeded 19 thousand people, and by the end of the thirties it reached 30 thousand. The social and economic sphere also grew at an enviable pace. Since the mid-20-ies in the city much attention was paid to new construction. So, there were a poultry and meat-packing plant, a hospital building and a second railway club, winter and summer cinemas, a library and a radio node. By the end of the thirties the erection of the Palace of Culture was started.

The war with fascist Germany

Cardinally Tikhoretsk's history changed during the Great Patriotic War. From August 1942 until the end of January 1943, the city was occupied by the Germans. This is a tragic period for Tikhoretsk, when the fascists tortured 3,500 people of his residents. The junction was considered an important strategic point both for our and for the German army.

That is why fierce battles took place for it, as a result of which the city was almost completely destroyed. In Tikhoretsk it was difficult to find the surviving building. In order to restore the destroyed city, the government of the USSR allocated more than 80 million rubles.

Tikhoretsk's development in peace years

After the victory over Nazi Germany, the city began to recover. In gratitude to those who defended Tikhoretsk's freedom, a monument was erected on his Victory Square , the opening of which was held in 1959. Much later, in the 90s, memorial plates appeared on his footsteps, on which the names of the killed Tikhon people were carved.

After the Great Victory many already existing enterprises continued their work in the city. Together with the new factories (cobbler, brick, mechanical plant, and also an enterprise for processing maize seeds of hybrid varieties), the city continued its economic development. But on this peaceful victory of the Tikhookeans did not end. In the mid-fifties, the Vorovskii plant established the production of track machines. In the sixties, wine and canning industries were opened. In 1964, the plant "Red Hammer" began the production of equipment for the chemical industry.

Tikhoretsk developed rapidly. Krasnodar Territory took him to the list of cities of his subordination in 1961. By the seventies of the last century in Tikhoretsk lived more than sixty thousand inhabitants.

A new turning point in the history of the city was the perestroika that was taking place in the country. It caused a decline in production. Only at the end of this difficult period the situation in the city's economy has stabilized.

Modern Tikhoretsk

To date, the former township settlement is an industrial town that plays an important role in the economy of the entire Krasnodar Territory. A large number of factories and plants operate on the territory of this district center. In addition, agriculture is well developed in the vicinity of the city. The agro-industrial sector provides both residents of the city and the whole region with beets, sunflower and wheat.
