Royal splendor, elegance and elegant beauty of clematis could not leave indifferent the domestic florists. And in spite of the fact that these plants are found only in the wild nature of subtropics, cultivated, they are able to survive in the harsh conditions of the Russian climate. Clematis - representatives of the family of buttercups, which are shrubs, tree-like or grassy vines-perennials. Many species of plants are classified according to the categories adopted throughout the world and characterizing the peculiarities of the formation of inflorescences:

• on the stems of the previous year (A);

• on the shoots of the past and current years (group B);

• exclusively on the stems of the current year (group C).

Speech in this publication will be about the representatives of the last category of the list - group C, which include the Clematis Jacquesman.

Species Features

In the overwhelming majority of Jacmman's clematis are varieties and hybrids, derived by crossing the cultures of Lanuginosis with varieties of Viticella. As a rule, these are liana shrubs with a powerful root system and stems reaching a length of 4-6 m. Decorative vines are provided not only by prolonged flowering, but also by a beautiful dense pale-pinnate foliage. Different grades of group C bloom with the formation of shoots of the current year and are represented by a variety of size and shape colors, single or collected in three buds, reaching in diameter from 7-8 to 20 cm. Flowers Clematis Jacquemans are generous and quite long. A special feature of them is the absence of aroma, as well as the white color in the color of flowers, in the palette of which, however, there are all possible shades.

Varieties

The enviable decorativeness of clematis is a fertile prerequisite for the creation of new varieties, but also the proven cultures obtained by breeders for a long time are appreciated by gardeners for their amazing refinement and beauty. For example, such varieties are popular that meet the preferences of many summer residents:

• Rouge Cardinal is a prize-winner of prestigious international exhibitions, a liana with two-meter shoots and open cross-shaped flowers, distinguished by luxurious velvety purple sepals. Flowering is long and abundant, continuing from July to October. The culture is moderately winter-hardy, it requires additional shelter.

• Star of India - a liana shrub with three-meter shoots and figured leaves of 3-5 slightly pointed parts. The blossoming flowers, reaching 15 cm in diameter, are painted in purple tones and are distinguished by a bright purple middle stripe. Blooms in the second half of summer.

The variety generously blooms from the second half of the summer to the onset of frost, forming up to 20 buds on each stem. It is also famous for its excellent resistance to various fungal diseases.

Clematis violet (Viticella)

Among the representatives of the cultures of Jacquemn special place is occupied by a plant with violet flowers - Clematis Viticella, which is also the basis for many new varieties. The spoken name indicates the color of flowers - purple-lilac with varying degrees of intensity.

Flowers in this species are simple, rarely drooping. Completely blossomed, depending on the variety, they reach 10 to 20 cm across. Rapidly growing stems grow to 3-3.5 m per season. This species is represented by a variety of varieties. Here are the most common of them:

• Ville de Lyon - a perennial vine with brown stems up to 3.5 m in length and directed upward by purple flowers 10-15 m in diameter, located on long thin peduncles. For a season the bush forms up to 15 stalks, on each of them 12-15 flowers bloom.

• Viola - an abundantly flowering variety with large dense flowers (10-14 cm), similar in shape to the propeller. Shoots that grow to 2.5 m are covered with decorative three-lobed leaves. Flowering begins in July and continues until the onset of cold weather.

• Polish Spirit - winding liana with long 4-meter shoots, strewn with medium-sized (up to 8 cm) lilac flowers blossoming in July. The bush retains its decorative qualities until October.

Features of flowering and care

Flowers Clematis Jacquemane abundant and long. For example, in the hybrid Rouge Cardinal the flowering time of each bud is 2-3 weeks. Under winter, it is necessary to trim clematis: the shoots are shortened to a height of 0.2 m and three to five pairs of growth buds are left on them.

Use curly clematis in the vertical gardening of gardens, estates, terraces, balconies and loggias, as by the recognition of gardeners cultivating clematis on their own plots, the plants develop well both in open ground and in closed containers. The only condition for the successful growth of culture is the existence of a stable support. It can serve as a trellis net, decorative arch, railing or even a low tree.

Planting and growing

Well-behaved the plant is not different. Clematis (or clematis) Jacquemane does not like sunshine, preferring a light penumbra in a section protected from the wind - the main enemy of culture. It is worth considering the device of support necessary for the plant. The height of the structure, whether it is a trellis net or something else, should be not less than 1.5 m in height.

Plant the culture in a previously prepared pit, focusing on the size of the root system of the seedling. The liana is very spreader, and when planting several plants, it is necessary to observe intervals between them from 0.7 to 1 m. Under a digging into the ground, 10 kg of humus and 50 grams are applied per square meter. Superphosphate. After planting, young cultures are well watered.

Care of the culture

Clematis Jacquemna distinguishes good resistance to disease. Many varieties are hardy and winter hardy, but it is better to cover them for the winter. Prior to this, pruning clematis is performed. In addition, it is necessary and traditional care, consisting of regular watering, weeding and feeding. For the care shown, the culture will respond with a longer bloom, elegant and exotic.
