Sexual infantilism (genital infantilism): causes, symptoms, treatment

In medicine, the term "infantilism" characterizes the state of the body, in which the organs of the reproductive system are underdeveloped. Complicate the situation of psychoemotional disorders, which often occur in adolescence. Two forms of pathology are known: congenital and acquired, and each of them can affect the body partially or completely. Therefore, it is very important to identify the disorder at the beginning of its development.

Causes of pathology development

The formation and development of all internal organs and systems begins in the embryonic period, when the child is still in the womb of the mother. The process is rather lengthy and continues after birth. The final stage is at adolescence. The probability of the development of various pathologies in this period, including genital infantilism, is quite high, but with constant exposure to negative mental or physical factors, it only increases.

So, among the reasons contributing to the retardation of development, doctors call:

  1. Diseases of the cardiac, nervous and vascular systems of the body are congenital in nature.
  2. Infections with subsequent infection and disease of the child during fetal development or in younger children.
  3. Traumas of the skull and brain, including those that could be obtained in the course of labor.
  4. Parental diseases of the parents.
  5. Pathology of the endocrine system of an innate and acquired character.
  6. Vitamin imbalance in childhood.
  7. Postponed stress in the period of bearing a child.
  8. Rigid diets in adolescence.
  9. The lack of vitamins caused by malnutrition.
  10. Abuse of alcohol during pregnancy.
  11. Tobacco smoking.
  12. Severe poisoning with toxins (alcohol, tobacco, drugs) just before conception.

Among other things, the underdevelopment of the reproductive system can occur in the child, if the pregnancy was with pathologies. Also, the likelihood of a violation in the presence of extragenital diseases is high (the main sign of the disease in girls is that they do not go on a monthly basis).

General signs of impaired development of genital organs

Infantilism can be general or partial. In the first case, developmental delay is traced throughout the body: physical, mental, sexual. Partial violation of the problem occurs with a specific system. It is worth noting that sexual infantilism is more pronounced in the female than in men.

The strong sex experiences functional difficulties: the attraction to the woman is practically absent, the reproductive capacity is violated, the erection is low enough. Of the visible signs - the male penis is smaller than the standard size twice, the timbre of the voice is high, because of the poor production of testosterone, the hair on the chest and face practically do not grow.

The signs of female infantilism are more visible in the process of gradual classification of the disease, so you should consider them in detail.

Degrees of female infantilism

When a woman has sexual infantilism, one of two types of disorders occurs in the body: either the genitalia develop incorrectly, or the entire body suffers. In medicine, most often diagnosed abnormalities in the development of the organs of the reproductive system, namely the uterus, which affects the reproductive function.

Infantilism is classified into three degrees:

  • The first is the least diagnosed form of the disease. It is characterized by underdevelopment of the uterus (its length is no more than three centimeters), and the neck is several times larger than the size of the organ. The patient does not go on a monthly basis, therefore, there is no possibility of pregnancy. Reproductive function is broken in full and can not be restored.
  • The second - a feature of the pathology is that the length of the cervix exceeds the size of the uterus three times, while the organ is no longer than three centimeters. Pathology is observed in the structure and location of the fallopian tubes. They have excessive bending and length. Monthly bleeding is not regular and is accompanied by severe pain. Due to the specific structure of the tubes, pregnancy often results in an ectopic pregnancy. With prolonged and proper treatment, it is possible to restore the reproductive system.
  • The third is that the patient has a normal uterus and is about 6-7 centimeters. The main cause of the development of pathology are infectious diseases with the defeat of the organs of the reproductive system, which were transferred in early childhood. With the return of a woman to normal regular sexual activity, the violations take place without additional treatment.

Signs of female infantilism

In addition to the main degrees of pathology, sexual infantilism in women is characterized by abnormal ovarian function. Violation of the reproductive function and a weak manifestation of secondary sexual characteristics are due to the weak production of the hormone estrogen, because of this the level of libido also decreases.

The disease can also be recognized by external manifestations: the breast is underdeveloped, the narrowed pelvis, the hair in the pubic area is practically absent. The girl herself may suspect violation of irregular painful menstruation.

Sexual infantilism in men

Representatives of the stronger sex also suffer from such a violation. Male infantilism is clearly expressed by the lag in sexual development. Secondary sexual characteristics and organs are not developed enough. Outwardly, a man with a violation differs from his peers in an unnecessarily young form.

To suspect sexual infantilism can be with the regular absence of sexual attraction to the opposite sex, there is no ejaculation in the night periods, there is no sudden erection, the penis is a male of small size.

It is worth noting that the size of the penis is not always small, in exceptional cases the penis of a man is developed normally. Then the cause of infantilism is mental underdevelopment. Deviation leads to the fact that a man can not establish contact with a woman on an emotional level and enter into it with her.

Mental form of violation

In most cases, the pathology does not arise exclusively against the background of mental disorders. It is accompanied by various, sometimes not quite obvious physical disorders. It can be said that this form of the disease occurs again when the innate or acquired infantilism is already progressing. It is born on the background of problems with the endocrine, cardiac and vascular systems.

A patient with a mental form of infantilism tends to behave like a child: he is frightened by everything new, often there are attacks of hysteria, he is frivolous and self-centered. More often the treatment of this disorder is carried out in a complex, with the elimination of diagnosed congenital or acquired infantilism.

Methods of diagnosing the disease

Infantilism is a complex physical and mental disorder of one or more systems of the body. Therefore, the diagnostician conducts a series of activities that can accurately determine the etiology of the disease.

So, for the diagnosis, the doctor can appoint:

  1. Carrying out of consultation together with medical interrogation (anamnesis collection).
  2. Ultrasonic scanning of the internal organs of the reproductive system.
  3. Hormonal test.
  4. Examination on CT apparatus.
  5. Tomography with doppler for assessing the state of blood vessels and the usefulness of blood circulation.
  6. X-ray examination of the uterus.
  7. Colposcopy.
  8. Psychological testing.

With obvious pathology, there will be enough 3 examinations to make a diagnosis.

All procedures and tests help specialists accurately determine the discrepancies in the person's age and development of the genitals, the presence of mental disorders. Based on this, the correct treatment regimen is determined.

Therapeutic methods of combating infantilism

Genital infantilism is best suited for treatment at the initial stage of development. If violations were detected in early childhood, the probability of complete recovery of the reproductive system is very high. When diagnosing pathology in adulthood, treatment often does not produce any results.

The success of therapy is directly affected by the precise determination of the causes against which infantilism has developed. Pathologies that have arisen under the influence of abnormal work of the endocrine, cardiac or vascular systems are eliminated by stabilizing medications. In some situations, surgery may be performed.

With the diagnosed delay in sexual development, a hormonal treatment regimen is used. Medications help the body produce the missing hormones (progesterone and estradiol) in the required volume. Also, the doctor prescribes a course of physical procedures and drugs that strengthen the immune system.

The mental form of the disease is treated by taking tranquilizers and antidepressants. These drugs stabilize the work of the nervous system. In severe situations treatment with a therapist is indicated.

Prevention

Prevent genital infantilism can. Only future parents can do this, because the origin of pathology occurs during the period of intrauterine development. Even before conception, you must abandon bad habits, lead a healthy lifestyle and reduce your stay in stressful situations.

To prevent the development of infantilism in childhood, care must be taken to ensure that the child does not come into contact with infections that can affect the organs of the reproductive system. It is also necessary to balance the diet, and adolescents should not be addicted to diets or starvation.
