Sex change surgery: from a psychiatrist to a surgeon

Let this seem to many unnatural and wrong, but there are people for whom this is the only way to a normal life. Their own body for them is a mistake of nature, they feel uncomfortable, alien to it. They can obey the "rules of the game" imposed on them, but in fact they will only portray the person who sees others. And in the soul they will always be their own opposite, at least - on the basis of gender. These people are transsexual, and the fact that they feel like a representative of the opposite sex is not a whim or a perversion. Nature, indeed, can be mistaken, good, medicine has learned to correct these mistakes in many ways. The change of sex is just such a correction of natural creation.

Actually, transsexualism is the only indication for such a surgical intervention. This condition is inherent in nature, unlike various deviations of the sexual plane, such as transvestism, homosexuality and so on. Just transvestites and homosexuals are most often denied clinics, as they do not insist that they need a sex change operation. And in order to distinguish from these real transsexuals, at the first stage, when you go to doctors, a psychiatric examination is conducted. This is a serious and inadequate examination, during which the psychological stability of the patient is simultaneously determined, because he has to complete a life transformation.

The next stage can be called "fitting" - a person is invited to live the life of the opposite sex, but not a day or two, but at least a year. At this time, he can still give up his intentions, because then there will be no turning back.

Then hormonal preparation follows. By the way, hormone drugs a person later will have to take throughout life. Hormones begin to change appearance: the body's hair is getting stronger in women, the voice is coarsening, menstruation stops, and men are getting some female outlines of the figure.

Only after all these preliminary stages follows the actual operation of sex change.

The transformation of a man into a woman on a surgical table begins with an orchiectomy - this term refers to the removal of testicles. The body's production of testosterone ceases and it is possible to reduce the intake of female hormones. The next stage - vaginoplasty - as the name implies, is the formation of a female sexual organ. Usually, the tissues of the penis are used for this. When a sex change operation is carried out using modern technology, one can even retain the sensitivity of the organs - a "newborn" woman will be able to experience orgasm. The finishing touch is the implantation of breast prostheses.

A somewhat more complicated sex-change operation is carried out in the opposite case - when a woman is made of a man. First, the mammary glands are removed (this is called mastectomy), but so that to keep the nipples and place them in natural places on the body. Then the penis is formed, for which the patient's own tissues are also used. Inside the penis is placed the urethra, and from the labia the scrotum is made, into which the testicles of the testicles are implanted. The final stage is removal of the uterus with appendages.

When the sex change operation has passed - the result does not yet look aesthetically pleasing, so the patient will subsequently need one or more cosmetic surgeries, but the hardest part is already gone.

However, the most difficult - only from a medical point of view. Ahead of the person is still a long process of getting used to his new body, and everyone experiences it in his own way. But, as practice shows, after a professionally conducted operation, none of the patients regret the decision taken earlier.
