Setting up a home network of two computers
Setting up a home network a long time ago became a matter of routine, for which most users do not even turn to specialists. Of course, there are rare exceptions when the structure assumes complex schemes, such as when creating a network between tenants of a high-rise building with the possibility of several exits to the Internet.
So, the setup of the home network begins with the choice of the type of connection. Transmission of data packets can be made both by cable and by radio waves (Wi-Fi, BT). For a person who is worried about his health, you should choose your wired option. In this case, you will need to measure the distance between the outputs of the network cards and visit the computer equipment store. There you should order a cable type "twisted pair" of the required length from the consultant with installed connectors (plugs). Previously, it was required to specify the type of connection ("computer-computer" or "computer-hub"), now this is not necessary, since all modern network cards automatically switch the mode of operation depending on the method of crimping the cores of the cable.
Further adjustment of the home network is to adjust the software part of the system. Main requirements: both computers must belong to the same workgroup; It is desirable that the addresses are in the near range; Mandatory condition - different names.
In Windows XP for configuration, select the properties of the shortcut "My Computer", here open the "Computer name" tab and click "Edit". It remains to specify a unique name and a group (for example, MSHOME). On another computer, do the same. Now you need to register IP addresses. To do this, click the right mouse button on the monitor image in the lower right corner of the desktop, select "Status" - "Properties".
Next, in the Internet protocol specify the address and mask. The first one must be 192.168.xxx.xxx, and the second parameter must be 255.255.255.0. On the next computer, the address, respectively, 192.168.hhh.uyu, where instead of letters - arbitrary numbers.
Setting up a home network Windows 7, as well as Win XP, is also possible through a wizard. For "Seven" the necessary settings are present in the Network and Sharing Center, and in the "old woman" XP are called through the "Start" - "All Programs" - "Standard" - "Communication" - "Setup Wizard".
Setting up a home network through a router is more difficult, since it is necessary to make changes to the device. Knowing the model, all the data can be easily found on the web. Such a method of connection is necessary, for example, for the organization of shared Internet access, provided that the provider is bound to the MAC address.
