Faith grows stronger in trials

Born Sergei Ryakhovsky March 18, 1956 in the village. Zagoryanka of the Moscow Region in the family of believers. In those years, such people were persecuted by the state, many were convicted. It touched the family of Sergei. His father - Vasily Vasilievich - in 1955, after returning from prison, he became one of the founders of the XBE communities in the Moscow region. In the house of the Ryakhovskys, meetings of believers were often held. In those conditions it was tantamount to a sentence. He did not keep himself waiting - in 1961 Vasily Vasilyevich was sentenced to a new term.

In the family by that time there were 5 children. But Antonina Ivanovna - Sergey Vasilyevich's mother, was a faithful Christian and reliable support to her husband. Bishop Ryakhovsky Sergey Vasilievich recalls with special warmth and admiration for the strong faith of his parents. The time was hard, they did not take part in the work of "sectarians," and they were treated with undisguised hatred at school and on the street. The persecution continued, believers' gatherings were held in the conditions of the underground. But in spite of everything Sergey Ryakhovsky knew - he will necessarily preach the Word of God. As Sergey Vasilievich himself says, he could not imagine a different life at the time. The example of the father and mother stood before the eyes of the young man always.

Education and work

Despite the fact that Sergei Vasilievich is a zealous Christian and actively engaged in missionary work, in 1975 he graduated from an electromechanical technical school in Moscow. In these years there was a memorable meeting. Once, on the train, he took out a Bible from his briefcase and read it. A man of about forty, sitting opposite, asked Sergei Vasilyevich whether he understood what he was reading. To which Ryakhovsky, then still quite young, fervently replied that he not only understands, but also can teach. The companion introduced himself: "Let's get acquainted. Father Alexander Men. " As Sergey Vasilievich remembers, he was simply dumbfounded, because this name was then a legend.

After the technical school, Sergei Ryakhovsky went to serve in the Soviet Army - from 1975 to 1977. In 1982 he graduated from the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, where he studied at the evening department. According to Sergey Vasilievich, he completed the course in several higher educational institutions - engineering, technical and medical. In addition to serving the church, he also worked in secular work. Over the years, he had to change many places of work.

The Way of Service

Until 1986, had to hold secret meetings. The church was then literally underground. Many ministers were in dungeons. But Sergey Vasilyevich never for a moment doubted that the chosen path was right, so he never concealed his views from anyone. In 1987, Sergei Ryakhovsky was ordained deacon, after 7 years he was already a presbyter, and in 1991 - senior presbyter of the Moscow Church of the XIV.

In 1994, he was ordained a bishop and since 1995 he is the national bishop of the Association of the Christian Orthodox Church "Church of God". Further, he studied at the Bible Institute - from 1985 to 1990, graduated from graduate school in the seminary. In 1993 he became a master, and in 2005 - a doctor of theology. Sergey Vasilievich is engaged in teaching activities and carries a pastoral ministry in the Church of the XIV of Tsaritsyno. His sermons are instructive, and they also give encouragement and support to believers.

A family

Sergei Vasilyevich himself is a wonderful family man. Nina Anatolyevna - the wife of Sergei Vasilyevich, speaks very warmly of him. He says that being a wife of such a person is not easy, but honorable. When they got married (in 1977), he promised to support his wife. And, as Nina Anatolyevna asserts, the husband still helps her in everything. The family has six children - five sons and one daughter. All the offspring are serving in the church.

He is a member of the Board of the Bible Society, established in 1991. The organization provides everyone with Holy Scripture, promotes the translation of the Bible into the languages of the peoples of Russia, and conducts charitable activities.

Sergei Vasilyevich is a co-chairman of the Council of Protestant Churches. This organization exists since 2005. The main task is coordinated decisions on the problems facing the unions and associations of Protestant churches.
