general information

The senior sergeant is a military rank of the Russian army (found in other divisions). In accordance with the rank, it is located below the foreman, but above the sergeant. Although all these titles are only superficially related to the officers.

Sometimes the senior sergeant is pronounced in conjunction with other words. It all depends on where he is serving:

  1. Senior sergeant of the Guard, if the officer is present in the relevant military unit, or serves on the Guardship.
  2. Senior sergeant of the medical service / justice, if the officer is in reserve, but possesses the skills in medicine or jurisprudence.
  3. Senior reserve sergeant / retired, if the officer does not continue to serve in the unit.

The IMF of Russia has other categories. Here the senior sergeant receives the title of chief sergeant-major. But the post in the staff remains the same. The employee serves as deputy platoon commander.

Terms of senior management

All ranks are assigned to the employees of the relevant bodies, depending on several parameters: seniority, position, education, qualifications and some other factors that are noted in this Regulation. Those that are targeted to junior commanders are assigned to leaders who are higher on duty.

The present Regulations establish the following terms with seniority:

  • Private - one year;
  • Junior sergeant - one year;
  • Sergeant - two years;
  • Senior sergeant - three years;
  • Ensign - five years;

The sergeant (the rank after the senior sergeant) does not have a definite term of service. He is given the following titles depending on the personal attitude to the service, qualifications, various service achievements. The same is true of the senior ensign.

Early assignment of titles

Talking about how much from a sergeant to a senior sergeant, one can not ignore the early appropriation of the rank. In the standard version, you will have to serve two years. But the title can be assigned before the expiry of the term. There are several rules:

  1. Those who are assigned a new rank ahead of schedule should stand out in the process of service, earn high results, cope with duties perfectly, and show exemplary behavior.
  2. The one to whom the title is conferred, must do something that is not part of the duty, quickly navigate in one's own actions.

Early ranks are appropriated by the higher management in strict compliance with the execution of all clauses of these Regulations. Also, it can not be assigned to a person "through the head". That is, only a sergeant can become a senior sergeant. If this is an ordinary soldier, then he will not be able to receive such an early increase.

In some cases, the early title can not be assigned. For example, if a person needs to undergo training or get specific skills (senior sergeant of justice and the like).

Delay or Deprivation of Title

The military rank of a senior sergeant can not be obtained after seniority. This happens for several reasons:

  • Availability of written disciplinary statements.
  • There is a violation of the law, because of which a criminal case is initiated.
  • A check is carried out for the purpose of revealing official violations.

In such cases, the new rank is not appropriated until the end of the proceedings, or the officer is completely deprived of it. It depends on the category of violation.

A decrease in rank is a measure when there is a disciplinary statement. Sometimes such a decision is made by immediate superiors if they find someone better for a full-time post, if the service obligations are not fulfilled, negligent attitude towards the service. It is possible to resume the rank in the rank not earlier than in a year, if the direct bosses make such a decision. They can also completely deprive the title for crimes against the army and Russia as a whole.

Assignment of titles

Rank senior sergeant receive before the foreman. In order to attain this level, it will be necessary to take special courses in the program for the training of the corresponding staff members of the service section. In this way it differs significantly, for example, from the rank-and-file or corporal. Accordingly, by way of encouragement, this title is not appropriated, regardless of the rank of the higher leadership.

But the senior in rank can send a soldier to the training of sergeants. Independently to do this he has no right. Otherwise, all rank-and-file or corporals would have long been sergeants.

The minimum path from the junior sergeant to the senior is six months. During this period, the officer can stand out, earn a reputation for superior leadership.

Conclusion

Thus, the senior sergeant is the penultimate rank (the last is the foreman), which an ordinary soldier can receive without graduating from a school. It is enough to pass several courses, some of them are held directly in the unit. To receive further increases, if the officer decides to remain in the army, he will need to undergo training.
