Second trimester, 15th week of pregnancy

The second trimester, or 15 weeks of pregnancy, is marked by active development of the fetus in the womb. During this period, the placenta begins to produce estrogens and progestins, regulating the condition of the bladder and the composition of the amniotic fluid. In the future baby the digestive organs are started , the stomach, intestines and gall bladder start working, while bile is excreted through the intestine in the form of the first stool, called meconium.

So, a child at the 15th week of pregnancy can already distinguish between tastes, so a woman should eat high-quality and nutritious foods. At this stage of pregnancy the baby acquires the appearance of a small person, his eyes gradually shift towards the middle of the face, and the ears become normal ears. Although the skin of the baby is still thin and transparent, its formed bones begin to strengthen, and the body is covered with gun hair. Gradually, the circulatory system is improved , the liver now performs the function of an organ of hematopoiesis, and veins and arteries supply the whole body with nutrition. The small heart continues to develop and beats twice as often as the adult. The child's brain grows, the number of nerve cells in it grows.

So, the 15th week of pregnancy is the period when the child starts to understand what is happening around, and expresses his attitude towards what is happening with the help of facial expressions and gestures. The baby's buds are already performing their function, the process of urination can occur several times a day. Also active are the sebaceous and sweat glands.

When the 15th week of pregnancy comes, the uzi can show how the child sucks his finger. The fruit has a mass of up to seventy grams and growth of ten centimeters. He still freely floats in the amniotic fluid, his limbs continue to stretch, by the end of the week the toes and hands are formed, nails begin to form.

At the end of this week, many women feel the first perturbations of the child, it concerns, in the first place, those women who are not pregnant for the first time. If pregnancy is the first, there is a probability simply not to recognize the perturbations.

Although pregnancy at this time is not yet very evident, gradually the stomach will grow. However, even now, a brown vertical line can be found on it, which usually disappears after delivery. Many women experience slight memory and attention disorders. This is connected with a change in the level of hormones in the body of a pregnant woman.

It should be remembered that the 15th week of pregnancy is a crisis moment for those women who have problems with the adrenal glands, as there is a possibility of an increase in the level of testosterone in the blood, which adversely affects the development of the fetus.

At this stage of pregnancy, doctors recommend conducting studies aimed at determining the development of the fetus. Thus, one of such studies is the analysis of amniotic fluid, called amniocentesis. At the 15th week of pregnancy, carrying out such procedures is safe and is recommended, first of all to those women who are at risk and have a negative Rh factor. This analysis gives an opportunity to learn the blood group of the future child, his gender, and also to identify possible defects in his development. It is also necessary to pass a test for the content of blood hormones such as ACE, E3 and hCG, which will determine the possible backlog in the development of the fetus and exclude the possibility of Down syndrome. Actually this is, first of all, for those women who are more than thirty years old and are pregnant for the first time.

Thus, it can be said that the 15th week of pregnancy as a whole proceeds calmly, without large changes on the part of the woman. The fruit continues its development, all its internal organs and systems are actively formed and developed. The skeleton of the child is already formed, and it can be considered using an X-ray.
