Scarlet fever. Symptoms and its treatment.

A purple skin rash that produces a light nasolabial triangle that contrasts with the bruise of the cheeks, intoxication and fever are the main signs of a disease such as scarlet fever. Symptoms of it are quite similar to the main signs of angina. It is heat, lined tongue and inflamed tonsils. The difference is that there is a small red rash, first in the most delicate places of the body (cheeks, axilla and gluteal cavities, soles, palms and side surfaces of the body), and then all over the body.

In adults, scarlet fever occurs much less often, its symptoms spread to younger children and manifest themselves very sharply. An active and healthy-looking child quickly rises high fever, often reaching thirty-nine degrees, weakness and lethargy, loss of appetite, sore throat and nausea and even vomiting. On the first day of illness, the tongue becomes covered with a white coating, which makes it difficult to determine that this is scarlet fever. Symptoms, the treatment of which must begin immediately, are already on the second day of the disease. The plaque descends and a purple, pronounced rash appears. With proper and timely treatment, the rash on the body disappears after three, maximum of seven days. The tongue can remain in this state for two weeks and assumes its normal appearance after full recovery.

Very bright, with a disease such as scarlet fever, symptoms. Treatment of them is accompanied by a patient's discomfort from severe itching. It is important to explain to the child that the rash should not be scratched, since it is fraught with severe lesions of the skin, which can result in even scars. To ease the condition, you can give the baby a sedative, for example valerian. After the disappearance of the rash, the skin begins to peel strongly and it is recommended to lubricate it with plenty of cream.

With timely and correct treatment with antibiotics, the disease is mild and can be cured quickly. Less common is the average and severe form of such a disease as scarlet fever. Complications with the kidneys and the heart usually occur in older children and adults. All patients need to take blood and urine tests after the first, second and third weeks of the illness, and it is recommended to check the condition of the heart by making a cardiogram. In any case, both the small child and the adult are required to observe the home regime at least twenty-one days in order to prevent possible complications of the disease.

Even if the child has scarlet fever, the symptoms of which are expressed in a small temperature and do not cause serious fear, it is extremely important to immediately consult a specialist. Treatment in an easy form is carried out at home with complete isolation from other children and mandatory bed rest. After a day of taking strong antibiotics, the patient is greatly relieved, he is recommended to drink plenty of liquids and liquid foods with a minimum protein content. All foods that cause allergies (strawberries, honey, citrus fruits, chocolate, and others) are excluded from the diet. But even with excellent health and lack of temperature, you need to take antibiotics for seven days.

If there is a suspicion that the child has scarlet fever, the symptoms of which can appear already in the first hours of the illness, in no case need to go to the clinic for an appointment, but it is better to call the doctor at home. This disease is transmitted by airborne droplets and there is a danger of contamination of others. Parents, caring for a sick baby and not sick of this disease in childhood, it is necessary to protect yourself by taking antiviral drugs. After recovery, it is recommended to boil all used linen, and disinfect toys and utensils. Avoid contact with other children and family members, wear a cotton-gauze dressing and include vitamins C and B in the diet.
