Rybinsk Drama Theater: poster, history

The Rybinsk Drama Theater is a temple of art located in a beautiful city on the Volga. It exists since the 19th century. Rybinsk Drama Theater is associated with many famous and great names.

History of the theater

In 1825 the Rybinsk Drama Theater was founded. His history is associated with such names as MS Shchepkin, VI Kachalov, VF Komissarzhevskaya, MN Ermolova, FI Shalyapin, LV Sobinov and others. All these great artists at different times visited the Rybinsk theater on tour. The fate of Arkady Raikin is connected with him. It was in this theater that he was in love since childhood, and this love helped him to make a choice of profession. A.V. Timiryova-Knipper (the unmarried wife of Admiral A.V. Kolchak) served as a prop in the days of J. Stalin.

The theater began its existence in 1777, at least, the first mention of it is dated this year. This happened when the town of Rybinsk was only formed from the Rybinsk settlement. A special building was specially built for the productions. However, only representatives of a higher society could afford to view views. Simple townspeople did not have such an opportunity. The theater in Rybinsk did not last long. In 1789 Pavel I visited the city , who had just ascended to the throne. When he saw the theater building, he was horrified that the temple of art can be located in a wooden beggarly shed. The emperor ordered to dismantle the building immediately.

In 1802 a new theatrical room was built, it was also wooden. On his stage, the troupe from Yaroslavl performed very often. The most favorite performance of the audience was the production of Dmitry Donskoy.

In 1825 the establishment of culture - the Rybinsk Drama Theater - acquired a permanent acting troupe and director. They became the architect Pankov. The project of building a building for the theater he created himself. In 1826, Pankov rented a premise for a wealthy landowner, Obrezkov, and then sold it. Until 1840 the actors of the theater were serfs Obrezkogo and Urusova. The pomeshchiki paid very little to their artists, so much so that only enough for bread and water.

In 1919, the theater was named "Demonstrative", and in 1926 it was called "Worker".

Since the middle of the twentieth century, the troupe has regularly toured the country. And also the actors took part in festivals. Such performances of the theater as "Not All Cats Shrove" and "Queen of Spades", became winners.
