Road roller - types and purposes

The reliability, durability and strength of roads depend to a large extent on the quality of road construction. To facilitate this process, a special technique is used. To compact, level, compact soil or gravel, asphalt or concrete in the foundations, as well as road structures, a road roller is used. The scope of use of special construction equipment is quite extensive - it is industrial, hydraulic engineering, road, city, railway, airfield construction.

The principle of operation and the way of movement for different equipment is different. There is a trailer and self-propelled technology, static and vibrating. The road roller is equipped with specific working elements. It can be steel rigid rollers or pneumatic tires. The rollers, in turn, are subdivided into smooth, latticed or with special cams on the surface.

The road compactor compacts road building materials by rolling its working parts. The machine, moving along the road surface, carries out the process of sealing the road surface with its own mass. The road asphalt road roller is indispensable for construction works in stadiums, for sealing sand and pebbles on roads, for laying asphalt and in small-sized construction.

To perform certain types of work , the road vibrating roller is used, capable of periodically oscillating the working bodies. Such a machine is equipped with a hydrostatic transmission, hydraulic control is carried out using an electrical system. For the full operation of vibration functions, the so-called crabbing mechanism is involved.

Road rollers are endowed with excellent characteristics, they are reliable in operation. It should be noted that the mass of the aggregate has a certain value when exposed to a sealable material. In a number of special construction equipment, there are combined road rollers with sealing bodies, which are typical for devices of various types.

Among the roller road rollers, which are articulated shoes on the rim of the drum, there are lamellar, cam, rib and latticed species.

For lattice roller road rollers, the working surface of the rim of the roller is in the form of a grating, and in the cam rollers several rows of cams are firmly fixed to the rim of the roller.
