Ringing in the ear

Ringing in the ear is a subjective sensation, also described as a squeak, hum, noise, hissing. Most suffering from this unpleasant phenomenon also note a decrease in hearing. Accompanied by the defeat of the auditory nerve, ringing in the ear occurs suddenly or develops rapidly enough, it is an absolute sign of the pathology of one of the departments of this organ. From time to time it becomes so loud that a person is unable to concentrate his attention. The spectrum of diseases that are the source of such symptoms is quite extensive.

What diseases can cause ringing in the ear?

- Adverse effects of an ARVI or ARI;

- damage to the inner ear;

- swelling of the auditory nerve;

- lesions of the middle ear - trauma of the tympanic membrane, exudative otitis media, otosclerosis;

This phenomenon, observed for a long time, is called tinnitus. It is not an independent disease, but is only its symptom. Most patients note that the treatment of the underlying cause, which causes such discomfort, gradually freed them from ringing in the ears.

Tinnitus can also be a symptom of metabolic diseases (diabetes mellitus, etc.), kidneys, cervical spine and pathologies of the temporal and mandibular joints.

Causes of ringing in the ears may also be:

- acoustic trauma (musical concert, work on noisy production). Such a disruption of the functioning of the hearing organs is temporary, it is not dangerous and goes by itself within a few hours.

- Barotrauma (after a jump with a parachute, flight, diving). It arises as a result of strong changes in atmospheric pressure and is often accompanied by dizziness, a feeling of stuffiness of the ears, a decrease in the severity of the hearing. If the tympanic membrane is not damaged, special treatment is performed. If there are violations of its integrity, antibiotics are prescribed.

Recipes of traditional medicine.

- Mix grape vinegar and water in a ratio of two to one and put such a mass on the fire. As soon as steam begins to stand out, you need to hold your head above it;

- if the cause of the ring is precisely the insect that has got inside the ear canal, it is necessary to lie down in the bath so that the ears are in the water. Most likely, the pest will pop up.

- You can also put in the affected organ a cotton swab soaked in onion juice.

Our ancestors attached special importance to this unpleasant phenomenon. The ringing in the right ear was considered a harbinger of the upcoming replenishment in the family. For the unmarried, this phenomenon meant a speedy success in love. The ringing in the left ear promised failure on a personal front to lonely people, and to married couples - a short continuation of the family.
