Amur tiger

Some rare species of Red Book animals are known to many representatives. Among them is the Amur tiger. It is one of the rarest predators of the Earth, the largest tiger in the world, besides, the only representative of this species that lives in the snow. In Russia, these animals live only in the Khabarovsk and Primorye Territories. In the Russian Federation, the population of a rare beast numbers about 450 individuals.

Snow Leopard

It is a small, rare species, listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation. Preservation of rare species of animals of this species is currently conducted at the state level. Their total number in our country, according to the general estimates of WWF (wildlife fund) experts , is about 100 individuals.

Far Eastern leopard

Manul

Manul is a rare predator of the steppes and steppes of Eurasia. He is listed in the Russian and international Red Books. This wild cat got the status, close to the threat of extinction. Scientists say that the number of these animals is rapidly declining. In addition, poachers threaten him, and therefore rare species are protected. In our country there is the most northern area of the manul habitats, here it is mainly found in the desert-steppe and mountain-steppe landscapes of Altai, Buryatia, Tuva, in addition, in the southeast of the Transbaikal region.

Sumatran rhinoceros

The number of Sumatran rhinoceroses in the last twenty years has decreased by almost 50%, which was due to deforestation of tropical forests and poaching. To date, in the south-east of Asia, there are about 200 representatives of this species.

The world knows only 5 species of rhinoceroses: 2 - in Africa, and 3 - in South-East and South Asia. These rare species of animals are included in the Red Book. Last October, WWF reported that the Javanese rhinoceros in Vietnam had been completely destroyed.

Komodo Varan

A species that belongs to the family of lizards, the largest lizard. There is a hypothesis that the lizards of the island of Komodo are the prototype of this Chinese dragon: Varanus Komodoensis in adulthood can exceed three meters in length and weigh about 1.5 quintals. This is the largest pangolin on the planet, which kills a deer with a single tail blow. It is found exclusively in Indonesia, while it belongs to the category of endangered animals.

Loggerhead

Arguing about the existence of rare species of animals, we can not fail to mention the loggerhead. This is a species of sea turtles, which refers to the only representative of loggerheads, also called sea-head-torn skulls. This species is widespread in the waters of the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, as well as in the Mediterranean Sea. In addition, it can be found in the Peter the Great Bay in the Far East and in the Murmansk area in the Barents Sea.

The meat of this turtle is not the most delicious, while it is consumed exclusively by local tribes. Interestingly, while her eggs have long been considered a delicacy. Talking about what the rarest species of animals, it should be mentioned that unrestricted collection of loggerhead eggs led to a significant reduction in the number of this species of turtles over the past 100 years. It is listed in the Red Book and in the Convention on International Trade in Various Kinds of Wild Fauna and Flora, moreover, it is protected by the laws of Greece, Cyprus, Italy, the USA.

Calan

The sea otter, or sea otter, is a sea predatory mammal belonging to the family of cuniacs. It is a species very close to otters. It has a number of interesting ways to adapt to the habitat in the marine environment, in addition, it is one of the rare non-primitive animals that use guns. The sea otter lives in the northern Pacific region in our country, Canada, the USA and Japan. In the XVIII-XIX centuries, sea otters were subjected to predatory extermination due to valuable fur, due to which this species approached the verge of almost complete extinction.

These rare species of animals of Russia in the twentieth century were included in the Red Book, as well as in the protection documents of different countries. Hunting for them in 2009 was practically banned in many regions of the world. It is worth noting separately that only the indigenous inhabitants of Alaska - the Eskimos and Aleuts - can be hunted for otters, but only to maintain the diet and folk crafts that have historically developed in this region.

Zubr

The Bison is the largest and most severe land mammal of the whole European continent, moreover, the last of the representatives of wild bulls in Europe. The length of his body is 330 cm, at the withers height - up to 2 meters, while the weight reaches a ton. The high density of human settlements, the destruction of forests, in addition, intensive hunting destroyed the bison in virtually all European countries. At the beginning of the 19th century, wild bison remained only in two regions: Belovezhskaya Pushcha and the Caucasus. The number of animals then amounted to about five hundred representatives and decreased throughout the century, despite the constant protection by the authorities.

In 1921, at the expense of the anarchy of World War I, the animals were finally destroyed by poachers. Due to the purposeful activity of various specialists in 1997, in the conditions of captivity in the world (nurseries, zoos and other reserves), there were 1,096 bison, while at the will - 1829 individuals. This species belongs to the IUCN Red List to vulnerable, while in our country it was the rarest species of animals that is endangered.

African Wild Dog

A hyena-like or African wild dog was once ubiquitous in the African savannahs and steppes - from Sudan and southern Algeria to the southern extremity of the continent.

This animal was included in the Red Book as a small species that is endangered.
