Putty on wood. Application rules

The main advantages of the water base are the absence of toxic fumes that pollute the environment. In addition, water-based filler is very easy to use and is characterized by ease in its further processing. To remove the residues of this product do not need to use solvents - such as acetone or turpentine: enough of ordinary water. The ability not to dry out as quickly as the putty on wood on solvents, provides you the opportunity to use it in the future. And most importantly, if you prefer a water-based product, you will not have to regret the adhesive qualities of the selected material.

Before applying the putty for wood, you need to familiarize yourself with the basic rules and recommendations:

  1. The first and basic rule is the preparation of the surface of the material. It should be dry, clean and almost perfectly flat. It is necessary to wash off with water or to remove tall, degrease and remove resin precipitates. Using sandpaper thin paper, you need to sand the surface to a very smooth state.
  2. The conditions during the work with the putty must meet certain standards. The air temperature affects the drying time: it should not go beyond seven to thirty degrees of heat. Humidity of air should not exceed 75% and be less than 55%. The wooden product itself should also not be wet (from 5% to 13%).
  3. If you work with joints, it is necessary to priming porous surfaces. For this, it is better to use an acrylic primer. Before use, the product should be dried for about twelve hours.
  4. The putty on wood should be applied by means of a special frame pistol. Then, using a spatula, it should be leveled until a thin even layer is obtained, and then dried. After drying with a thin emery cloth, it is necessary to polish the surface.
  5. The putty, dried surface area after grinding is ready to produce subsequent coatings.

The putty for wood is very easy to apply. You do not need to be a professional to work with it. You just need to be able to properly choose the color, and also get a spatula and a frame gun.
