Puppy German Shepherd. Nutrition and care

Puppies of the German shepherd are looking for owners already at 1.5-2 months old. By this time they have already undergone the procedures of primary vaccination and protection from worms and have a stigma. Before that, a German Shepherd puppy is 1 month old, or rather the first 2 weeks is under the supervision of the mother, getting everything necessary and feeding on her milk. At the end of this period, lure begins, in the diet, add foods such as low-fat cottage cheese, scraped meat and various vitamins. When the puppy gets to the new owners, he is deprived of the mother's care and the professional care of the breeder, so the owner needs to maintain contact with the breeder for at least a year in order to get advice or recommendations in case of something.

Feeding German Shepherd puppies

Buying a puppy, you should provide him a painless transition from one house to another, it's good if a few days or a week will maintain the usual diet for him . Puppy German Shepherd should be fed at least 6 times a day before the age of 3 months, then this amount is gradually reduced to 2 times, but not earlier than 9 months. There is a huge amount of ready-made dog food, and the owner often has to decide what to feed the dog, whether to switch from natural, cooked food to dry prepared foods.

Dry food

There are three classes of dry feeds: economy, premium and super premium. The first are inexpensive feeds, including low-grade cereals, soybeans and meat products by-products. Their digestibility and nutritional properties are very low, therefore, they require a greater amount in comparison with premium foods. A puppy of a German shepherd will eagerly eat such a feed, but the low quality raw materials used can lead to allergies and metabolic disorders. In the premium class, low-grade raw materials are not allowed, and the nutritional value of such a substitute for natural food is much higher, the same applies to digestibility. But the super premium food is prepared from high-quality products, cheap ingredients, preservatives and colorants are not used here. Their composition is balanced and includes everything necessary for the growth and development of the puppy and the normal functioning of his body. In addition, the production of feed takes into account the breed, weight, physical load, age and predisposition to dog diseases. You can find such food in a vet clinic or in specialized stores.

Natural food

To ensure proper nutrition of the puppy with natural home food, you need to have sufficient knowledge to ensure that the diet is balanced and contains the required amount of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, and vitamins and minerals. Puppy German Shepherd in the first months of growth especially needs proteins, because this is the main element for the growing body of the dog, so in its daily diet must include meat products. They can be given both in raw and in a boiled form, it is not recommended too fatty meat or pork, the latter can contain a plague virus. If there is a lack of fat in the food, growth may be delayed, a sign that there is a sufficient amount of fat in the diet is a smooth shiny coat. The main source of energy are carbohydrates, that is, all kinds of sugars and fiber. The main products rich in carbohydrates are various cereals and legumes, the German shepherd puppy and berries, fruits and vegetables will not refuse.
