Proper breathing during swimming

Everyone who knows how to swim knows that sometimes there are strengths to swim a little more, but only breathing does not allow. That's why right breathing is the first thing that beginner swimmers are taught.

When a person is in the water, he spends a lot of effort, while using the maximum amount of muscles during the voyage. Therefore, if you do not learn how to do the right consecutive breaths and exhalations, then chances are that in a few meters you swallow the water and will simply be knocked out of your strength.

Surely, almost every one of you has acquaintances who can boast that they keep well on the water. However, if one observes the frequency with which they stop to pause and catch their breath, the conclusion suggests itself - they need a technique of correct breathing. In whatever good physical form a person is, his swimming will give a minimal result if he does not know how to breathe properly and constantly keeps his head in suspense, for fear of dropping it into the water.

Do not think that professional swimmers are superhumans who possess superhuman abilities. Watching the Olympic competitions, you simply marvel at how easily and swiftly the swimmers overcome the established 50 meters, constantly plunging into the water, and some even not emerging. All this, of course, is facilitated by long and stubborn training, but proper breathing during swimming will help everyone learn to stay on the water much more confidently.

It is very important during the voyage to maintain an even and quiet breathing, this will avoid panic and tension throughout the body. Undoubtedly, keeping such a breath is easier and best when there is a special tube, but not always such a device is at hand. The main rule that coaches immediately try to convey to swimmers is: inhale over water, exhale - under water.

Now, pay attention to the duration of exhalation, which should be twice as long as the inspiration. And most importantly, do not forget to train the right breathing on land.

One of the simple and common exercises is so-called "washing", when it is necessary to splash in the face with water, doing with it a simultaneous exhalation.

There is another exercise that includes proper breathing and helps increase lung volume. It is carried out in shallow water. Having inhaled, it is necessary to plunge into water and slowly to exhale so that in lungs there was no oxygen. After emerging, you should again inhale and immerse yourself in water. Exercise should be repeated several times in a row, at an energetic pace.

A very important skill for anyone who is in the water is the ability to quickly restore peace of mind. It is not in vain in any unforeseen situation on the water that it is recommended not to be nervous and to keep the right breathing (and, hence, a rhythmic heartbeat and coordination of movements).

If for some reason you started to get nervous on the water, then it's best to stop and try to restore breathing and a calm rhythm of the heart. This can be done with a simple scheme: first take a slow deep breath, then hold your breath, count to 10 and exhale slowly.

It is very important to remember that no one is immune from getting water in the respiratory tract during swimming, but if you breathe properly, this situation will not require a sharp and sudden stop of the entire swimming process. You can cough or quietly cough, while maintaining the usual pace of movement.

Needless to say, such exercises for breathing will not only allow you to confidently stay on the water, but also improve your overall well-being. Physical stress during the day will be much easier to transfer, and you will be full of strength and energy, not to mention a good mood and a healthy strong sleep. Be healthy.
