Prolonged reconstruction: Dmitrovskoe highway

At one of the most important routes in the north of the capital is currently undergoing a large-scale reconstruction. Dmitrov highway needed a major modernization for a long time. But for various reasons, it was postponed for an uncertain future. Took it up in the spring of 2012.

From the history

The road leading to the ancient city of Dmitrov existed here in the fourteenth century. It had all the features characteristic of a country road. Only in the middle of the nineteenth century she received a firm cover. Throughout its length, a certain reconstruction was made. Dmitrovskoe Highway ceased to be suburban already in the Soviet period of history. He was to not only join Moscow as one of the streets, but also become a very significant part of the city's transport infrastructure. Today it is one of the most important highways of the northern direction. But gradually its throughput ceased to correspond to the required level. Especially large traffic jams began to form here as we approach the Moscow ring road. Only the reconstruction could fundamentally correct the situation on the highway. Dmitrovskoye highway is not the only highway in Moscow, which has approached the exhaustion of its resource. Similar problems exist in the capital in most areas. Therefore, the funds necessary for its modernization were found only by the beginning of 2012.

Main activities

An effective technical solution, which allows to save the main from traffic jams and congestion, is the organization of a non-light traffic zone on the maximum possible length of the route. Where it is possible. It is equally important to expand the carriageway and increase the number of traffic. This is precisely what the reconstruction currently underway in the north of Moscow is aimed at. Dmitrovskoe highway already has a multi-level transport interchange at the intersection with Koltsevaya. But as a result of many years of operation, it has ceased to meet modern requirements for throughput and traffic safety. Here work is under way on the construction of a left-hand turnover on the inner side of the Moscow Ring Road, to which the traffic flow from the area is directed. In addition, a trestle is built on a straight run towards the city, providing a two-level crossing with two lateral passages. The reconstruction project of the Dmitrovskoye Highway includes the construction of a two-level junction at the intersection with Dolgoprudnensky Highway. The main course of this crossing has already been put into operation.

Reconstruction of Dmitrovsky highway: completion dates

Time factor in the construction of engineering infrastructure is always important. Especially when it comes to one of the key highways in the northern part of the capital. But the attempt to complete the full scope of work on the project ahead of schedule was unsuccessful. At present, there is every reason to believe that the modernization of the highway will be completed in the last quarter of 2014.
