Positive and negative characteristics of the employee: what to tell?

Sooner or later, almost every employer is faced with the fact that he needs to make a characterization of the employee. But in general, what should it look like and what should be indicated in this document?

Characteristics of the employee is an official document. It should contain an informative review of the official or public activities of a person. With the help of the characteristics you can tell about the employee's work path, his moral and labor qualities, describe his work and social activity.

The document must contain the following data:

  • Full name of the employee, date of birth. Also, indicate what kind of education he received, provide a complete list of educational institutions that he graduated from.
  • The next item, which should contain the characteristics of the employee - the name of the company or organization where it was compiled, lists the positions occupied by the person at work, and his professional duties.
  • Positive qualities are listed (both personal and professional), data on incentives and rewards.
  • The information on the courses of improvement of qualification passed by the employee is given. In the same paragraph, we can mention the projects of the company in which he took part.
  • It is necessary to say for what purpose the characteristic is given.
  • At the end of the document, the date of its compilation, the signature of the responsible person, and the seal of the organization must be indicated .

With the writing of a positive characteristic, as a rule, problems do not arise at all. Everything is much more complicated if you need a negative characterization of the employee.

Of course, in the official document you will not write something like "snoring at the whole office" or "eating chips at work and not sharing". It is important to remember that you are responsible for the content of the characteristic. Therefore, it must be objective to the maximum, and your opinion - is supported by concrete facts.

It is best if the negative characterization of the employee is documented. There must be links to documented misconduct, examples of negligence, etc.

You must provide the numbers of all internal documents.

Do not include in the characteristics of data that can be described as gossip, rumors or your personal opinion.
