Portrait of Shevchenko - the famous poet and artist

Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko is a great man and figure, the national hero of his country. Years of his life - 1814-1861. Poetry occupies a primary role in the literary heritage of Shevchenko. Taras was born in 1814, on March 9 (February 25), in the village of Morintsy in the Kiev province. I lost my mother very early when he was 9 years old. After her death, the father married a woman with three children. My stepmother did not like Taras and treated him cruelly. And at the age of 12 Shevchenko lost his father.

Very early he began to write poetry and draw. And being an orphan, he sought and found himself teachers, sometimes very cruel. When he was 16, he began to serve in the estate. The owner very often beat Taras for his hobby for painting, but then took pity on him and sent him for training to master Shiryaev. Later Shevchenko meets with Soshenko, Bryullov, Zhukovsky and Venetsianov. These people were able to buy it from the landowner.

Bryullov drew Zhukovsky and sold at auction his portrait. Shevchenko bought out for the money from the sale. This became a salvation for a creative person who was able to engage in his activities freely.

The dawn of his work fell on 1840-1847. But because of the accusations of political treason, Shevchenko was sent into exile in 1846, where the most terrible thing for him was that it was impossible to write and draw. But the government found out that he painted landscapes, and sent him to a new link, where he remained until 1857.

He was released for health reasons. A year after gaining freedom, he lived with F. Tolstoy. Then he went home. And in 1861, on March 10 (February 26), he passed away.

Shevchenko in the literature

In the dawn of his work Taras Grigorievich presented to the readers such colossal works as "Gaydamaky", "Poplar", "Khustochka", "Katerina", "Perebedna", "Naymichka". All of them were written in Ukrainian, because of what they were criticized.

During the exile Shevchenko wrote several works in Russian, among them: "Artist", "Princess", "Twins". They contain a lot of autobiographical information.

Painting and Graphics

To date, many pictures and pictures of Taras Shevchenko have survived. His portrait, painted by himself, can be found in books and museums. He spent a lot of effort in drawing picturesque landscapes, trying to show viewers how beautiful the surrounding world is.
