Pond with their own hands - nuances and features of creation

Recently it has become very fashionable, having its own summer cottage or own house, to equip the pond with their own hands in the yard.

Although this is not difficult, but before starting work, it is necessary to think everything over and weigh it. The very first thing that needs to be done is to determine in which place such a pond will be located. There are some nuances, you can not build a pond with your own hands either on a sunny spot or in the shade of large trees. When choosing a place, you should look to the chestnut, broom and poplar trees not to grow near, as their fallen leaves give off the greatest amount of toxic substances. It is good to have a pond near the willow or birch, and best of all near the coniferous trees.

After choosing the place where the decorative pond will be constructed by oneself, it is possible to start marking out its dimensions. To do this, it is best to use a rope, because with its help you can designate the complex shape of the future reservoir. If you decide to make a stepped pond, then in this way it is necessary to extract land.

If you plan to use a waterfall in your pond, it's best to make a concrete cushion under it. Throughout the perimeter, the dug pond with your own hands must once again be bypassed by a shallow trench, only 30 centimeters deep, and filled with sand, which is then carefully tampered with, so that subsequently there is no shedding and subsidence of the placed stones.

The difference between the terraces should be about 30-50 centimeters, in which case you can use them for planting various types of plant with water, as some of them require insignificant depth for full development, while others, on the contrary, grow at a depth of the pond not less than 70-90 Centimeters.

After you have prepared the pit, it should be covered with a layer of sand about 15 centimeters, so the depth of the pit should be done more than the depth of the pond. To make it easier to lay sand, the walls of the excavation are made with a slope and, of course, sand must also be tamped. To make this easier, you have to water it.

If you create a pond with your own hands with a waterfall, then the place where there will be a waterfall is laid with large stones, make the bowl itself for the fountain and the channel for the brook.

Now you can proceed to laying the waterproofing. But before that, you need to calculate its dimensions, while taking into account the width and depth of the reservoir and adding a meter to these dimensions. After that, we lay the geotextile layer on the entire surface of the pit first, and on top of it lay a layer of PVC film or you can use butyl rubber rubber. The remaining edges of the film are pressed with small stones to make it spread better, pour a little water into the pond.

After the film evenly settles, and for this it takes about 2-4 hours, you can proceed to its reliable fastening. To do this, we fix the film around the entire perimeter of the reservoir using wooden or metal pins, electrodes are most suitable for this purpose. Now completely drain the water from the film and cover it with another layer of geotextile.

The artificial pond is practically created by its own hands , it remains only imperceptibly and, most importantly, it is safe to conduct power supply to illuminate the reservoir, as well as for an electric pump that will provide waterfall or fountain operation.

Now you can start decorating the created pond, for this you can use both artificial and natural stones, as well as a variety of decor. Also it is necessary to decorate both the water surface and the coastal zone with various plants.

In the blueest place of the reservoir, a pump is installed, it is best to use an ultraviolet lamp, with which water will be purified, as well as special filters, so as not to disable the pump.

So, having spent a minimum of effort and money, you can make a pond with your own hands.
