Play "The Bug" by Mayakovsky: a short summary, an analysis

The Silver Age was not rich in dramatic works. However, even the little that was published had a social connotation and to a greater or lesser extent reflected reality. The "cloak" of Mayakovsky (a short review we will consider in the article) is one of such plays.

About the work

The play was written in 1928. The genre of the work is an enchanting comedy, it was designated by V. Mayakovsky himself. "Bedbug" (a short summary confirms this) is a satirical play based on materials collected by the author in the course of work in various publications. It was thanks to these achievements that such characters as Oleg Bayan and Prisypkin appeared.

For the first time the play was published in 1929 in the magazine Young Guard. And the premiere of the performance took place in February of the same year. It was a great success for the audience.

The play "The Bedbug" (Mayakovsky): a short summary

The scene of action is Tambov. The time of action - 1929 at the beginning of the play, 1979 - from the middle to the end.

The main character Ivan Prisypkin is a former worker and party member. He did not like his name very much, so he changed it to Pierre Skripkin. So, Prisypkin is going to marry the daughter of hairdresser Elzevir Davidovna Renaissance, who works as a cashier.

Ivan with his future mother-in-law goes to the department store and buys everything necessary for the upcoming family life. Among his purchases are figures of dancing ballet dancers, a bra that was adopted for twins for twins, etc.

Mayakovsky does not just show the Soviet reality. "Bedbug" (a short summary of this illustrates) - a play that ridicules philistine vices. It is they who are typified by Prisypkin.

Oleg Bayan is the organizer of the wedding. For work, he asks for a bottle of vodka and 15 rubles. In exchange, he promises a real labor sublime marriage in the best traditions of modern life. The discussion of the celebration is heard by the worker Zoya Berezkina. She was once the lover of Prisypkin. Zoya does not understand what is happening, and asks Ivan to explain everything to her. In response, the newly-born Skripkin says that he no longer loves the girl. Zoya begins to cry.

The action is transferred to the hostel for working youth. Here everyone is discussing the change of the name of Prisypkin and his upcoming wedding. Some people condemn him, others try to understand - it's time to start living for yourself.

Bayan teaches Skripkin good manners: how to scratch unnoticed, how to dance the foxtrot, do not wear two ties at the same time, do not wear a starched shirt, and so on. The teaching is interrupted by an unexpected shot. In a few minutes it turns out that Berezkin committed suicide.

Wedding

We continue to study the play "The Bug" by Mayakovsky. The summary describes the wedding of Elzevira Renaissance and Pierre Skripkin. The fun is in full swing. Bayan stands up, says a congratulatory speech, everyone drinks, then he sits down at the piano and begins to play. The company drinks and sings songs.

However, the best man, fighting for the honor of the bride, starts a quarrel with the guests. Gradually verbal insults go into a fight, during which they accidentally overturn the stove. The fire begins. Firefighters do not have time to arrive on time. They only state the death of the participants in the celebration on fire. Only one person was missing.

An unusual find

Actions in the play "The Bug" by Mayakovsky (a brief summary confirms this) are renewed 50 years later. The working team digs a trench under the foundation of the future building. Suddenly, people discover a covered earth and a frozen person.

The find is passed to the Institute of Human Resurrection, where they discover corn on the hands of the found. From this it is concluded that this citizen belonged to the working class. Among all the regions of the Federation of the Earth, a vote is taken, on which it is decided to resurrect the individual for the study of the working man. A mysterious person from the past is Prisypkin. The world press reports on the resurrection, placing great hopes on it.

Defroze guest from the past engaged in the professor. Assists him Zoya Berezkin - her attempt to end her life was not successful. The operation is successful, and Prisypkin comes to his senses. At the same time, a bug on his collar comes to life, which immediately crawls to the wall. Prisypkin is informed that he was in 1979. From this news the failed husband faints.

Adaptation

Describes the perfect future play "Bedbug" Mayakovsky. The summary shows the world of built socialism, where freedom, equality and brotherhood reign. However, as soon as a visitor comes from the past, much is changing.

Journalists transmit the latest news from the institute. In order to facilitate the transition, Prisypkin was ordered to give beer - "a mixture that poisons in huge doses and is disgusting in small doses." But along with him, a drink was tried by 520 workers, who are now in hospital with a diagnosis of poisoning. There are victims of romances under the guitar that Prisypkin performed. They were struck by the epidemic of falling in love - they sigh, dance, compose verses.

At the same time, no less important events are taking place. The director of the zoological garden with his assistants is trying to catch a bug. This insect is now extinct, but in the early 20th century it was very common.

In a clean room lies dirty Prisypkin lying on snow-white sheets. He asks to get drunk and bring something to read "for the soul." Zoe Berezkin delivers him books. But none of them like Prisypkin - they are all either documentary or scientific.

Decoupling

Nearer the denouement, which satirically portrayed Mayakovsky. "Bedbug" (a summary of the chapters is set forth in this article) concludes with a very revealing scene.

In the center of the zoological garden is a cage. From all sides it is surrounded by spectators. The word is taken by the director of the zoo. In his speech, he reports that Prisypkin was mistaken for a homo sapiens of a higher kind - a worker. In fact, it's just a simulator with an anthropic appearance, responding to the director's announcement of the search for a man who would agree to be exposed to clopic bites every day. Now in the cage are placed and "philistine vulgaris", and "clapus normalus."

Prisypkina is taken out of the cage. He sees the crowd and with joy turns to her: "Brothers, and you unfrozen, go to me." Prisypkina is led away by force and locked in a cage.

Analysis

Philistinism is the main thing that Mayakovsky derided in his work. "Bedbug" (a summary, an analysis serve as this proof) is no exception. And here the main character is a philistine. The falsity of this man is already spoken by the double name. Prisypkin did not like his mundane, unremarkable surname, and he took a more refined and refined - Skripkin.

But this is not the only attempt to change your origins, to become better and more refined - he begins to learn etiquette. That comic, with which Mayakovsky depicts this, underscores the absurdity of such attempts.

And only at the end of the play Prisypkina is taken to clean water - it turns out that he is not a worker, but a simple philistine, trying to look like a philistine, and place him in the same cage with a bug.
