Planting apple trees in Siberia - a pleasant reality

Features of the Siberian climate do not give an opportunity to grow in this locality varieties of fruit trees, for which the natural medium of growth is the middle stripe of Russia. Attempts to achieve a crop or at least to cultivate on this territory European species of fruit trees were made even by the first settlers from the Russian outback, who decided to settle here. Unfortunately, the planting of apple trees in Siberia did not yield positive results. Often, young seedlings could not bear the first winter cold and died, and did not enter even in the flowering phase. It became clear that it is necessary to create a completely new sort of wood, which will be able to withstand the low-temperature regime for a sufficiently long period of time. Result of long-term efforts of breeders were several varieties of frost-resistant plants. Now planting apple trees in Siberia provides a high yield, comparable to the fertility of trees grown in temperate climatic regions of Russia.
One of the types of refractory trees that have proved themselves well is the "Altaic purple". This is a short tree, bringing apples weighing from 57 g to 74 g of round form. The color of the fruit has a greenish-yellow color with a characteristic reddish blush. The planting of apple trees in Siberia of the "Altaic purple" species will bring the maximum yield to horticulturists - up to 134 kg from one tree, which can be harvested already in the middle of September.

Round fruits with pleasant sweet and sour taste and weight of 62-80 g will give the grade "Yermakovskoe mountain". These trees with a small crown can withstand frosts reaching -51 degrees. In contrast to the "Altaic purple" in this variety, there is a significant drawback - a very high degree of shedding of apples. The tree begins to bear fruit at the end of summer, from one plant it is possible to harvest up to 93 kg, with an average yield of 35 kg.
Planting apple trees in Siberia using the Bayan variety will provide the fruit grower with fruits for the 4th year after planting. This variety has a high degree of frost resistance. The first apples can be harvested in early September. A feature on which the degree of maturity of the fetus is determined is the appearance of a violet coating on its surface. The fruit value is about 140 g. With a good harvest from one tree of the "bayan" variety, it is possible to remove up to 74 kg.

In order for the sapling to settle down and subsequently begin to give the grower a qualitative harvest, the correct planting of the apple should be observed. For tall varieties with spreading crowns, one must adhere to such conditions: seedlings should be placed at a distance of 4 m from each other in a row, and between the rows themselves should be at least 5 meters. The hole for the tree is formed by a depth of 60 cm with a diameter of 1 m. Then superphosphate and potassium sulfate are added to the extracted soil - 60 g of each fertilizer per total soil volume. The same mixture is mixed with a couple of buckets of humus. Planting of apples and pears is no different. If desired, you can apply nitrofosco or azofosca in an amount of 100 grams, but not more. Otherwise, the surplus of mineral fertilizers can have a detrimental effect on the root system of the seedling.
