In one provincial town of Tambov region for several centuries there is Bogolyubsky Cathedral. Michurinsk is a science city with an interesting history, beautiful nature, modest streets and narrow roads.

Brief history of creation

In the 18-19th centuries on Tambov land there was an epidemic of cholera and plague. Bogolyubsky Cathedral (Michurinsk) has a direct relationship to these terrible diseases, and to the miracles that took place at the place where it now stands. What is the relationship? In 1771, when many people were dying from terrible diseases, on the gate of the estate (now it is not there, since the cathedral was built on that place), a miraculous icon of the Mother of God appeared. It was called Kozlovskaya (before the October Revolution Michurinsk was called Kozlov). After the appearance of such a miracle and the intensified prayers of the townspeople, the illnesses ceased. The plague and cholera left the city. In heartful gratitude people laid a stone and decided to build a temple of God in honor of the Most Holy Theotokos. But the construction of the church began many years later. According to the project of the architect Ton KA in 1873, the cathedral described by us appeared. By the way, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow was built by him. Therefore, the Bogolyubsky Cathedral (Michurinsk) has exactly the same architecture, but only differs in that it is laid out with a dark brick and there is no decoration, the domes are gray, not golden.

Unfortunately, during the Soviet years the Kozlov Icon of the Mother of God disappeared without a trace. But the inhabitants of the city even during the persecutions saw miracles taking place on the territory of the Bogolyubsky Cathedral.

Worship services

Surprising miracles to this day are taking place in the Cathedral of the Epiphany. If you came to stay in the city of Michurinsk, then be sure to visit this fertile place.

Liturgy is performed from 8.00 every day, which is convenient for the residents. Especially for those who do not want to get up early or who have to travel from afar. In other churches of the city, the service begins half an hour or an hour earlier. The funeral service also serves daily, at the same time - 16.00. And after half an hour evening service starts.

• The Church of the Sorrowful. Near the bus station on the Lipetsk highway and close to the children's and city hospitals is the blue building of the Church of the Sorrow. On the territory there is a small old cemetery.
