Peugeot 306 is a stylish dynamic model of the leading French concern Peugeot-Citroen. Design development began in March 1990. It is the full successor of the Peugeot 309, a compact family car. In serial production, the 306 was launched in 1993. At first, the car did not have an engine that met all the requirements. And Peugeot 306 for a long time was in the permanent search for a suitable engine, changing the engines one by one.
First, a 75 hp engine was installed on the car, which did not reach the starting speeds. Then came the turn of the engine with a power of 88 hp. This power unit also did not solve the problem. The next engine is 102 hp. And a cylinder capacity of 1.8 liters met all the requirements and even for some indicators was too mobilized. Another engine, the fourth in a row, is a diesel with a turbo power of 92 hp. Was used in the mode of many-hour trips. During the conveyor assembly, all four engines were installed on the car alternately, depending on the specifics of the future application of the machine.
In 1994, the Peugeot 306 received an automatic transmission, which significantly increased the demand for the car. The machine was installed first for every tenth machine, later the automatic transmission was equipped with every third. Simultaneously with the production of the basic model - a three-door hatchback - a five-door hatchback was being prepared for production. It was launched in 1995 and immediately came forward in all indicators as the most convenient and comfortable option. And in two more years serial production of Peugeot 306 wagon started. Both versions were five-seater.
In the period of parallel production of the hatchback and the station wagon, that is, in the intensive development works of 1994, within the framework of a separate program, the Peugeot 306 cabriolet was created, which immediately received the title of "The Best Convertible of the Year". This result, of course, can be considered an outstanding achievement of the concern Peugeot. The success stimulated the design bureau of the auto giant and in the following year 1995 the first Peugeot 306 sedan came off the assembly line. And in the fourth year after the production of the Peugeot 306, the reviews were already positive, a deep restyling of the model was made, as a result of which elegance appeared in the exterior, the exterior lines became more dynamic, and even the rear lights flashed with an updated design.

The production of Peugeot 306 was completed in 2001 - and a new promising model Peugeot 307 came to replace this worthy, but morally outdated car.
