Osteoporosis or bones in the hole

Many of us, alas, do not pay enough attention to the problem of osteoporosis. But, meanwhile, according to statistics from the World Health Organization, osteoporosis, if we consider this disease as the cause of disability and human mortality, occupies, no less, 4 th place in the world, second only to cardiovascular and oncological diseases, as well as sugar Diabetes.

Moreover, already in the very near future doctors expect almost an epidemic of osteoporosis, a disease in which bones lose strength, become very fragile and break easily and easily. Yes, there in the future - already in our time in Europe because of osteoporosis, almost one time in 30 seconds there is one fracture. It is predicted that by 2050. The number of people suffering from "fragility" of bones all over the world will increase at least three times, and, thus, reach 6.5 million patients.

So why do we, for all that, take us so seriously about osteoporosis? It's simple. The reason lies in the fact that, up to a certain point, which, as a rule, is a fracture, osteoporosis proceeds completely without symptoms. A person who falls ill with osteoporosis does not experience any unpleasant sensations, nor, especially, pain. But human psychology is organized precisely on the principle "until the thunder breaks out - the man does not cross himself," and structural changes in bone tissue completely fall under this principle.

This is the danger of osteoporosis. The main difficulty lies in the fact that when the disease manifests itself, it is too late to treat it! Even with all the progress in the field of medicine, the most effective way to "treat" osteoporosis was, is and remains its warning, in other words - prevention. Of course, osteoporosis can be noticed, especially if one knows such symptoms of osteoporosis as the presence of osteoporosis in one of the relatives, prolonged use of hormonal drugs, pain in the lumbar or sacral spine, exfoliation and fragility of the nails, leg cramps and early gray hair, and Parodontosis and plaque.

Osteoporosis, in medical terms, is a progressive decrease in bone density, which leads to a decrease in the strength of bones. Osteoporosis simultaneously affects all the bones of the skeleton, which, in turn, leads to the risk of fractures even under the most common loads. Osteoporosis is characterized by a decrease in the content of calcium and phosphorus, giving our bones a density, throughout the skeleton, due to their "washing away". Because of osteoporosis, the bones become porous, which leads to a significant decrease in their strength. From the point of view of physics, this process can be called a "decrease in density" of bone tissue. In medicine, for this process, a special term is used - osteopenia. As a reason for this process, doctors call both metabolic disorders and hormonal disorders. In addition, bad habits play a role, as well as inadequate physical activity and a sedentary lifestyle.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, every third woman and every fifth man over 50 years old in Russia suffer from osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is the reason that many people, having received a fracture in their old age, die within the next six months or a year, and the majority remain forever confined to bed. The further development of osteoporosis, leading to fractures of the vertebral bodies and tubular bones, causes a significant increase in morbidity and mortality among the elderly. Needless to say, that treating osteoporosis is much more serious than it seems at first glance?
