At speed, vibration during braking. Vibration of the brake pedal during braking

The biggest trouble that can occur in the braking system of a car is vibration during braking. Because of this in an extreme situation, the car may simply not stop at the right time, and an accident will occur. Professionals attribute this to the fact that in an emergency situation, the driver is afraid of beating in the steering wheel and pedals and will weaken the force of pressing the brake. Worse than these problems can only be a completely inoperative braking system. There are several main reasons for this behavior of the car - the identified problems should be rectified immediately. The road safety depends on this.

How to identify the vibration?

The brake pedal and the steering wheel often knock on - it's as if an anti-lock system intervened in the stop process . To detect vibration during braking can be on a dry and even surface. It is best to test the machine for vibrations on the asphalt. Then ABS, if it is in the car, will not interfere with the process. It is necessary to accelerate to 80 km / h, and then abruptly, but without blocking the wheels, start reducing the speed. If there is a characteristic vibration during braking, then it is worth thinking about the repair.

Causes of vibration on the brake pedal

This unpleasant phenomenon can arise for several reasons. In most cases, professionals note brake discs, brake drums. Less often (but also should not be excluded), air is detected in the lines of the brake system. Sometimes the reason is a badly worn out rubber, wheels with broken balancing. The curves of the wheel are also the vibration of the steering wheel during braking. Rarely are there problems with the operation of the anti-lock system, but this fault is easily diagnosed by the vehicle control unit. Among the reasons, worn out components will not be considered.

Corrosion of brake pads

The car is made of metal, but the metal is corroded. Even if the car is stored in a warm garage, you do not need to think that it does not rust. If the car has stood for a long time, corrosion occurs in places where the pads touch the discs. In this case, during the first attempts to brake, the vibration of the brake pedal is clearly felt during braking. Sometimes this effect goes by itself. But most often the disc and pads have to be changed.

Substandard pads

In addition to corrosion, they may simply be substandard. Today it's easy to get married. And if the disks were not in very good condition, then the working layer on the shoe will be unevenly worn. On some pads, the friction lining crumbles in whole pieces. Vibration on the handlebar when braking occurs as a result of a loose fit of the pad to the disc.

Changing the geometry of the brake disc

This is another reason that leads to vibration on the brake pedal and on the steering wheel. It consists in a sharp cooling of the disk. When the driver has an aggressive driving style and moves dynamically from one traffic light to another, the disks just do not have time to cool down. But overheating can occur and with quiet driving because of the support, which can not provide enough clearance between the pads and the disc. If the car rides in a puddle, the brake disc abruptly cools and bursts or deforms. After such deformations, it looks like a bicycle wheel with a "figure eight". The problem is that visually these deviations on the disk can not be seen. If the latter is substandard, then overheating affects it very badly. Deformations to it are provided, so, vibration of a pedal at braking is simply inevitable.

Deformations in drum brakes

Drum brakes are practically not subject to deformation, but sometimes they can cause trouble. They, like disk, can overheat (but to a much lesser extent). Overheating happens if in a hurry the driver forgets to remove the car from the handbrake and thus travels so long enough. The driver may not notice that the car is practically not going. When stopping, the handbrake remains raised, or the handbrake jerks again. From the school course of physics, it is known that when heated, the metal has the property of expanding. When cooled, it narrows. In the case of a drum brake, the pads will not allow the drum to return to its normal state. As a result, the geometry changes and takes the form of an ellipse. Hence the vibration of the brake pedal during braking. To ensure safety in the vehicle's braking system, there are two parallel or diagonal circuits. Drum brakes today can only be found on the rear axle of budget cars. However, if in a particular engine designers have created a parallel contour, then the beats on the pedal will be felt. If it is diagonal, then the rudder vibration during braking is manifested. The deformed or damaged drum can be identified by the gloss of the working area. It will be heterogeneous.

Brake Cylinders

The rear and front cylinder may not work properly. Often, these components of the brake system just sour, and then fail. This causes vibration of the pedal during braking. Solve this problem is very simple - just splash in these mechanisms WD-40 or a similar lubricant (the equivalent produces "Mannol"). But most often only replacement helps.

Hub as the cause of vibration during braking

This is a very rare reason, but it should not be ruled out either. Often the hub is deformed only in road accidents or with extremely strong impacts. However, if you get into the pit, the car will soon tear off the wheel or there will be a vibration on the steering wheel just when driving. It is not superfluous to check the hub bearing. If its wear is observed, then it is the main reason for the appearance of beats. For diagnostics, you have to subdivide the machine (hang out the wheel) and check its play - pozhatat from side to side. The play should be minimal, and the rotation should be without sounds and no hum.

Proper brake system and beating in the pedal

If the brake system is fully operational, and vibration during braking is still felt and thus it is not possible to detect any defective elements, then the problems are hidden in less obvious places. In such situations, experts advise you to check the balancing of the wheels. The fact is that when unbalanced, centrifugal force acts on the wheel. It is the cause of all problems. An experienced driver can easily determine an unbalanced wheel. But in this case, the vibration will not only be on the pedal, but also throughout the body. Also check the front suspension. Vibration on the brake pedal during braking may be a sign of deformed suspension arms or unreliable anchorages.

It is recommended to carefully check the reliability of the body, suspension and braking system. Specialists from the SRT often find badly tightened bolts on the entire car. Especially this problem will be relevant if the machine is often operated on roads of poor quality.

Stopping support

Another infrequent reason for the occurrence of vibration during braking is an uneven force on the caliper. As a result, it jams. But it is very difficult to identify this problem independently - a visit to a specialized service station is necessary.

Vibration when braking at speed

When the car is traveling at high speed, the parts of the brake system are subject to heat. It is possible that the disc and caliper are very hot, jammed and, as a result, at the speed at braking - vibration or even strong shaking.

Dangerous heartbeat: loose wheels

This is an easy problem. Diagnosing it is also easy. It is for this reason that there are often different vibrations and beats. Perhaps one or all four wheels are weakly fixed. No matter how simple this reason is, it is very dangerous. If the problem is not found on time, the consequences can be very terrible not only for the driver or his passengers, but also for the other participants in the movement. Repair in this case, namely - if you do not notice the beats on time, it can be very expensive. Hubs are broken, there are deformations of wheel disks, deformation of brake discs and broken fastening holes on the disk. If vibration occurs during braking, it is better to make sure that all the bolts are tightened sufficiently reliably. But it's also not necessary to pull up to a characteristic squeak.

What else causes beat and vibration?

These reasons are rare, but still they need to be considered. Sometimes there are minor problems in the steering rack or the ball joints of the undercarriage are too worn out. Also, vibrations and beats will arise due to worn out shock absorbers. But in this case the effect will be felt at the moment of turning. Also, the beating in the braking system and the steering wheel can be triggered by strong impacts of the car.

Can I ignore the problem?

If there is vibration during braking (VAZ-2170 is no exception), then it's better to visit SRT without any delay. But you can close your eyes to this problem for some time - some people travel this way throughout the year. However, if the reason lies in the weak tightening of the nuts on the wheel, then this is very dangerous. Such beats in the braking system exert a significant load on other parts in the running gear. In addition, vibration at speed, as already noted, can provoke an accident - it is very easy to lose control of the machine. Driving a car is dangerous in itself, and if such symptoms manifest, it is better to find and eliminate the cause. Do not endanger yourself and passengers. Keep cars in good condition - take care of yourself and your loved ones.
