Opisthorchiasis: diagnosis, effective treatment and necessary prevention

The cause of the appearance of such a disease as opisthorchiasis are flat worms-parasites. They enter the human body together with river fish, which can be poorly cooked. Worms infect fish that belong to the genus of cyprinids (roach, dace, bream, etc.).

Each person has different opisthorchiasis. Someone has a disease without any symptoms. And in some cases, even a lethal outcome is possible .

Signs of the opisthorchiasis

Often in patients with opisthorchiasis, there are allergic reactions and increased sensitivity to everything. Over time, a whole complex of symptoms of the disease develops, because the liver, gall bladder and even the pancreas are affected.

Most patients complain of pain, which occurs periodically in the hypochondrium. There is a strong dizziness and frequent headaches in patients . The temperature of the patient is usually normal and only occasionally slightly elevated.

The gall bladder increases with opisthorchiasis, so it can be easy to probe. However, there are painful sensations.

Signs of opisthorchiasis are also weakness, insomnia and incredible irritability. Often the skin becomes unnatural pale yellow.

A rather dangerous disease is opisthorchiasis. Diagnosis should be made as early as possible. Otherwise, complications may occur:

  • hepatitis;
  • Pancreatitis;
  • Bile peritonitis;
  • liver cancer.

Opisthorchiasis. Diagnostics

A set of laboratory tests helps to identify the disease. However, first, in order to determine opisthorchiasis, the diagnosis involves the establishment of an anamnesis. There must be information that the patient was in the area of the disease for a while. Or simply the patient could eat fish related to the cyprinid family.

Necessarily instrumental researches which help to reveal opisthorchiasis are appointed. Diagnosis of ultrasound, CT and MRI can do this if the disease is already in the acute stage of its development. Therefore, in the first place, an analysis is made for the presence of parasite eggs in the feces. Effective such a method is considered only a month after infection. After all, the parasite only begins to lay eggs after this time.

At an early stage of development, such a disease as opisthorchiasis, diagnosis suggests the identification of using immunological studies. For this, the patient must donate blood.

Treatment of opisthorchiasis

It is necessary to treat the disease not only with medicines. Diet is mandatory (table number 5). Before the main stage of treatment, the doctor necessarily prescribes cholagogue preparations (these may be different phytogens), as well as antispasmodics (the most popular is no-shpa).

As a special means against parasites, one of several medicines is prescribed today:

  1. Biltricide. The course of treatment with its use lasts only 1 day. These are tablets that the patient drinks with water.
  2. Chloksil. It is taken from 2 to 5 days. It is a preparation powder, which is diluted in milk.

Of course, you can not self-medicate. Before taking drugs, it is necessary to contact a specialist who will develop an individual treatment plan for opisthorchiasis.

Prevention of opisthorchiasis

It has long been known that anyone can be a carrier of the opisthorchiasis for about 30 years. Every time, by allocating parasite eggs to feces, it has the ability to infect hundreds of carp, and hence people who are imprudent to eat poorly cooked fish. As a precaution, it is always worth boiling and frying fish for at least 20 minutes. With hot smoking, fish meat is completely disinfected. But with salting, in brine you have to hold the fish for about 2 weeks.
