OJSC "Oktyabrsky Electric Car Repair Plant", St. Petersburg

Oktyabrsky Electric Car Repair Plant is a key enterprise in the North-West region in the repair, assembly, maintenance of wagons and rolling stock of the metro, rail buses, railway transport. The production is a structural subdivision of Transmashholding.

Base

OEVRZ is the oldest plant in St. Petersburg (St. Petersburg). For 190 years of work the enterprise changed the name three times: Alexandrovsky, Proletarsky, Oktyabrsky. His birthday is considered to be the year 1826, when the steamship Neva was the first in the Russian Empire to manufacture ironmaking production.

In parallel with shipbuilding, the Alexandrovsky plant specialized in highly artistic casting. His specialists produced sculptures for decorating the facades of churches, government buildings, cultural institutions, historical monuments. With the advent of railways, the plant became the pillar of wagon and locomotive building.

The power of the Soviets

After the revolution, Aleksandrovsky Mekhzavod was renamed into Proletarsky. At the same time, the profile of the company has been preserved. Here, all types of wagons were rebuilt and new ones built, wheeled pairs repaired, metal smelted and machined. In 1931 the plant was renamed to October Carriage Repair. In the military hard times, the OVRZ focused exclusively on the formation of armored trains and sanitary convoys, assembling the platforms on which the guns were transported, and ammunition was produced.

After the war, with the development of the electrification of the railways, the factory workers mastered the maintenance and overhaul of the electric rolling stock. Oktyabrsky Electric Car Repair Plant is the only enterprise where high-speed Russian trains are being repaired. In 1984, the repair and modernization of the first ER-200 was carried out in the workshops. The production was corporatized in 1992.

Second wind

In 2005, OVVRZ became part of Transmashholding. At the plant there were investments, additional orders, new production directions. If in the early 2000s the company specialized in the repair of passenger cars and electric trains, in 2006 factory workers renewed the overhaul of the high-speed rolling stock ER200 "Nevsky Express", designed for 200 km / h.

In 2008, a new stage for OEVRZ came into being - signing multi-year contracts with the subway. First, repairs were made to the subway cars, and later - the assembly of rolling stock. In 2009, the first cars of the model 81-714 / 717 were built with the help of colleagues from Mytishchi. The trains were intended for the Novosibirsk metro.

In 2012, OJSC Oktyabrsky Electric Car Repair Plant won the tender for the supply of 102 cars for the Petersburg Metropolitan State Unitary Enterprise in the amount of 2.6 billion rubles. The deal among the railway workers was called the "contract of the century". The fact that three years ago OEVRZ began to collect cars for the metro of Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk, contributed to the success, having proved to be a reliable producer.

Since 2014, the overhaul of RA buses produced by Metrovagonmash has been carried out. The appearance in the Russian Railways park of a new type of equipment caused the need for the Oktyabrsky electric repair repair plant to repair such rolling stock. In 2015, the first train of the metro 81-722 / 723/724 "Yubileyny" was manufactured at OEVRZ.

Today's Day

In 2016, OEVRZ carried out the overhaul of trams for Gorelectrotrans. As part of the expansion of cooperation with the administration of St. Petersburg, the specialists of the Oktyabrsky plant began repairing machinery that had previously been produced at the Leningrad tram and mechanical plant.

Also, production of contact-storage electric locomotives was mastered. Such electric locomotives are created in the body of ordinary subway cars and are designed to work on lines that for one reason or another are de-energized.

Recently, a new production complex was opened at the OEVRZ. Mastering all the new competencies was accompanied by a large-scale work to create new workshops, in which the production of modern rolling stock for rail transport can be launched. In 2016 the work was completed.

Activities

Repair of wagons and electric trains is the main activity of the enterprise. Thanks to the efforts of the team, the second generation received the brand-name compositions "Rus", "Nikolayev Express", "Aurora". Here, suburban trains are upgraded to the level of high comfort: Ladoga, Baltika, Severnaya Zvezda.

Oktyabrsky Electric Car Repair Plant (St. Petersburg) is engaged in:

  • Assembly of subway cars;
  • Production of wheel pairs;
  • Repair of wagons railway and subway;
  • Repair of wheel pairs;
  • Repair of electrical sections.

Significant volume of work falls on the manufacture of the right wheel pairs to the railway wagons and metro trains. For these purposes in 2005 a new workshop was created. Among the customers of the St. Petersburg plant are Russian Railways, the metro stations of Ekaterinburg, Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Novosibirsk. Cooperation with Lithuanian, Kazakh, Belarusian partners is strengthening.

Prospects

In preparation for the World Cup, the St. Petersburg factories are implementing a large-scale program of transport modernization. Naturally, the biggest load falls on the electric car repair plant. For the underground, original metro cars are manufactured, which meet the most modern requirements.

In the near future, reconstruction of the OEVRZ is planned. It is planned to concentrate production, to release inefficiently exploited areas, to equip a site for overhauling trams in St. Petersburg. After 190 years of heroic history, the plant stands firmly on its feet and looks confidently into the future.
