October 4 - Animal Day in many countries of the world

The presence of an infinite number of animals existing on a wonderful planet Earth, makes our own life journey richer. Representatives of the animal world please us with its grace and beauty, surprise with force, speed, dexterity. They are a natural ornament of our planet and need love, care and protection.

Unfortunately, in our world there are many things that threaten the life and future of many animals: excessive consumption of natural resources, destruction of habitats, thoughtless interference in the ecosystem and just an indifferent, and sometimes cruel attitude towards our four-legged friends.

Arthur Schopenhauer argued that a man cruel to animals can not be kind, because compassion is characteristic of kindness of character. People who are able to care for all living creatures, have compassion and care for them, there are many in the world. They join their efforts in preserving the wild animal world of the planet and protecting the rights of pets. On their initiative, the International Congress of Nature Defenders in 1931 decided to establish the International Animal Day. In many countries, nature protection societies supported the initiative and showed a willingness to celebrate this date on an annual basis.

Russia has become particularly active in participating in activities related to Animal Day since 2000. However, if we look back at the past, it can be noted that our country was among the first states to pay attention to the problems of animal protection. It is known that the activities of the Russian Society for the Protection of Animals, established in 1865, was aimed at establishing rules and laws that prohibit cruel treatment of animals and the definition of certain punishments for this. The main goal of these actions is to develop in people feelings of compassion and charity towards animals, to instill sound concepts about the benefits and benefits that only good care and saving of our younger brothers promise.

Today, October 4 - Animal Protection Day - nature lovers celebrate not by word, but by deed. On this day, especially mass events are held, the main goal of which is the education in people of a sense of responsibility for all life on our planet and a call for the protection of nature.

On Human Day, humane actions are organized, attracting public attention to solving the problems of many homeless animals and protecting them from cruel treatment, cold and hunger, and extermination. Real and urgent help is needed not only by the stray, domestic animals kept in the zoo, but also by representatives of the wild nature, and this must always be remembered, not only on Animal Day.

Ideas about the protection of the rights of representatives of the animal world are finding more adherents who take an active part in the work of various councils and organizations in many countries of the world. In 1986, the Council of Europe adopted the Convention on the Protection of Pet Animals, developed in accordance with the principles of bioethics. This year there are already 23 states that have ratified it. However, the tradition to celebrate the Day of Animals has taken root in many other countries of the world, now there are more than sixty.

Summing up the results of mankind's activity over the past centuries, scientists are forced to state the inconsistency of the existing principles of people's attitude to the wild. Because of the thoughtless and ruthless extermination, entire species of animals, billions of living things, disappeared. Mankind will have to realize the fact that animals are precious in themselves, and not only in that they are useful, and the sooner this happens, the better. After all, as Professor Jean Dorst points out in his book "Before Nature Dies," man has many objective reasons to strive to preserve the wildlife around him. The scientist argues that the animal world can be saved if people fall in love with him at least for the fact that it is beautiful. Perhaps it is the Day of Animals that is designed to remind people about the importance of preserving the living creatures that surround us.
