Although the idea of perpetuating the legendary founder of the city appeared in the early 90's at the then mayor of Krivoy Rog - Grigory Gutovsky. The author of the sculptural composition became the famous architect A. Vasyakin. The monument was to be installed in the park named after the newspaper "Pravda" in the historical center of the city.

However, the deep economic crisis of the 1990s prevented this idea from being realized. Reanimated it could only in 2011. The monument was finished, cast from bronze and solemnly opened near the city executive committee on the eve of the City Day.
