Modem "Promsvyaz M-200 A": setting up Wi-Fi

The Belarusian company "Promsvyaz" is known for its development of electronic equipment in the field of communications. One of the most interesting devices of this company is the "Promsvyaz M-200 A" modem. Setting it up is simple enough and does not mean for the user to have any special knowledge. Anyone can set the necessary parameters and options, and within 5-10 minutes. However, it will have to pay close attention to some important parameters, as well as follow the schemes that will be given below. Only under such condition it is possible to achieve correct operation of the device in different modes, as well as in case of connection of attachments for viewing IPTV (this will be discussed separately). In the meantime, in order to familiarize yourself with the device itself, its main characteristics will be given.

The "Promsvyaz M-200 A" modem: the main characteristics

So, first, a few words about the main technical parameters of the modem itself. It is believed that it is very similar to equipment from the ZTE brand, if only because the assembly is based on the use of Chinese components. And this model differs little from its Chinese colleague. This applies to the main functionality, and all the settings made. The difference is only in the name of the manufacturer, located at the top of the web interface, which, by the way, is completely English-speaking. This circumstance sometimes causes legitimate bewilderment for some users, because, as the manufacturer is Belarusian, it was possible to establish and support the Russian language. However, this is not so important, since further basic settings and parameters will be considered in sufficient detail.

This device is equipped with four inputs for local networks, one for DSL, and also a standard power connector. The modem has very modest and compact dimensions and provides the same distribution on all connected devices. Undoubted advantage can be called a simple setting in manual mode and a relatively low cost.

Setting up the "Promsvyaz M-200 A" modem ("BayFly"): the main stages

Speaking about the settings, first of all, we should note the main points related to the passage of different stages of setting the necessary parameters. For example, we use the settings for ByFly of the Belarusian operator Beltelecom.

The modem "Promsvyaz M-200 A" begins with the fact that the user needs to enter the web interface of the device. This is done from any Internet browser installed in the system, in which the standard combination 192.168.1.1 is typed in the address bar, then the login and password are entered (for both fields - admin).

Next, you need to select the modes in which the desired options will be set. There can be three of them:

• Bridge ("bridge");
• Router;
• WiFi.

Setting options for Bridge mode

So, we assume that the input to the device interface is executed. Initially, the configuration of the router-modem "Promsvyaz M-200 A" should be performed in the "bridge" mode (Internet section and Interface Setup tab).

Here, the appropriate mode (Bridge) is selected in the ISP field. The basic parameters set by default do not need to be changed, but you should pay attention to some important nuances:

• The connection type is fixed in Bridge Mode;
• In the NAT line - the active state (Enabled);
• The correct values of the VCI and VPI fields (for example, in Minsk, VCI is set to 33, in most cases 0 is used for VCI). As a rule, these parameters can be learned from the provider, and they should be specified in the service contract.

Modem "Promsvyaz M-200 A": setting in Router mode

The next step is to set the parameters for the router mode. The setting of the "Promsvyaz M-200 A" modem in this case differs somewhat from those described earlier. These settings will be used to obtain the possibility of signal distribution.

Here it is necessary to pay attention to the following points:

• In the ISP field, PPPoA / PPPoE mode is mandatory;
• In the PPPoE / PPPoA section, the login and password are entered, which are specified in the contract, and the login (Username) should look like XXXXXXXXXXXXX@beltel.by;
• The bridge interface (Bridge Interface) line should be activated (Activated);
• In the IP address string for the default distribution (Default Route), the Yes checkbox is selected;
• For dynamic allocation (Dynamic Route), RIP2-M mode is selected.

After that, it remains to just save the changes made, and after a few seconds the parameters will be updated, and setting up the "Promsvyaz M-200 A" modem in ADSL mode is considered complete. This does not require a reboot of the system and the device itself.

Wi-Fi settings and options

For the modem "Promsvyaz M-200 A", the WiFi setting is just as simple. It is produced in the same section of the Interface Setup, but already on the Wireless tab.

Here the parameters should look like this:

• Access Point - Activated;
• Parameter PreSSID - Activated;
• Field Broadcast SSID - Yes;
• SSID - your own arbitrary network name is assigned;
• Pre-shared Key - instead of the standard password it is desirable to enter another, invented independently (to ensure the security of access to the network).

Further, as in all previous cases, the button for saving the current settings (Save) is pressed.

What should I do if I need to perform port forwarding?

The modem "Promsvyaz M-200 A" has been completed. Now let's look at the situation when, for some reason, you need to perform the port forwarding procedure.

First you need to go to the Advanced Setup section and select the option to set NAT options. Here you need to use the Virtual Server section.

In the Applications section, enter:

• The name of the software for which it is supposed to open ports,
• Range of port addresses from the initial to the final (Start Port / End Port),
• IP of the computer for which access is granted (you can find it directly on the machine where the corresponding software is installed).

In the case where access is to be granted to multiple users of the same terminal, all addresses can be viewed using the command ipconfig / all in the command console (cmd in the "Run" menu, called by the Win + R combination).

The questions of the correct setting of IPTV

Finally, consider setting the correct parameters for viewing IPTV. As an example, we use the Zala service. Setting up the "Promsvyaz M-200 A" modem for this case is in general similar to setting up the options described above, but there are also some nuances. The main purpose of setting these parameters is to unload the Wi-Fi network. In turn, it must be remembered that the operator allocates IPTV to a separate channel (subnet) with its DHCP server.

The options for any option of connecting a prefix should be as follows:

• Physical ports: active range only from the first to the third (parameter Enabled in the line Physical Ports);
• Advanced Setup - activates the WLAN Function (Activated) parameter.

The VLAN PVID is set to the options shown in the image below.

VLAN Index 1 - the parameters are set, as shown in the following diagram.

The values for VLAN Index 2 are set by one more algorithm.

Next, as in all previous cases, you should normally save the settings, options and settings.

Reset

Finally, reset the modem "Promsvyaz M-200 A" in the simplest case possible using the appropriate button on the rear panel (Reset). For accuracy, you can simply disconnect the device from the mains for about 10-15 seconds. This is quite enough. However, this only works for situations where for some reason you can not access the web interface.

Return the modem to the factory state otherwise. To do this, it is necessary to find a special hole on the bottom of the device labeled Reset, press the button inside the button, hold it for 10-15 seconds, and then release it. The device will be rebooted, and all settings are completely reset, even if beforehand, the parameters were manually set and saved.

Here the most basic thing is to expose the correct parameters for the items indicated in the corresponding sections.
