Miner's Day

The history of such a professional holiday, like the Miner's Day, dates back to the Soviet Union. Now, after the collapse of the USSR, it continues to be celebrated on the last Sunday of August, not only in Russia, but also in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Estonia.

His story goes back to the distant 1935, when the well-known miner Stakhanov AG. Set an unprecedented record, this was the beginning of the whole Stakhanov movement. At one time it was a kind of limit, which every ambitious worker wanted to achieve.

Officially, the holiday was approved in 1947 on the basis of the proposal put forward by ministers of the coal industry. His first celebration took place on 29/08/1948. The order of the minister noted that workers of this industry must meet the Miner's Day not only with production achievements, but also with improving living conditions. On the eve of the holiday, measures were also identified that contributed to the strengthening of labor discipline. The tasks were given to the heads of departments in the preparation of materials for the awarding of those who distinguished themselves in this difficult work, new machines were put into operation, decisions were taken to increase the pace of construction and reconstruction of the mines. In Moscow on the Day of the Miner, a solemn commitment was made to achieve better successes in the next year and exceed the indicators that existed at the present time.

For some cities that are centers of the coal mining industry - this is the main holiday, celebrated with major concerts and performances, processions and folk festivals. In the Kemerovo region every year, since 2001, the city is chosen in advance, where the Day of the miner will be celebrated. Thanks to the work of miners, their professionalism and courage, cosiness reigns in our houses, children can attend schools and other children's institutions, regardless of the weather conditions.

High-performance mechanized complexes of coal-mining enterprises will be the basis of the production potential in Russia in the first half of the 21st century. Analysts, giving the exclusive role of the coal industry, believe that the extraction of black gold will keep at a stable level, and in the future it will only increase and even its sharp growth is forecasted.
