Mexican boxer-professional Chavez Julio Cesar: biography, photo

About Mexican boxers, you can talk a lot, because in this Latin American country there were, and most likely will be a lot of talent, which with their vivid performances attract millions of people to the TV screens around the world. One of those who has already finished his sports career, but at the same time did not lose the love of the public, is Chávez Julio César. This outstanding athlete will be discussed in this article.

Brief information about a person

Chávez Julio Cesar was born on July 12, 1962 in the Mexican state of Sonora, the city of Ciudad Obregon. His father was a railway worker named Rodolfo Chavez. The future sports star spent his childhood in an abandoned car next to four brothers and five sisters. It's no secret that many fighters in life gain success precisely because of their poor physical well-being, and our hero did not become an exception in this matter. It is because of economic problems of his family that Chavez Julio Cesar started boxing at an early age. Already at the age of 16 he began to perform in an amateur ring, where he was able to win in 14 matches and only in one to be defeated.

Professional career

At the age of seventeen, Chavez receives professional status. Already in the first year of his profiles he holds 11 fights. From the very beginning, its characteristic features became visible: stubbornness, a fast paced battle, powerful strikes against the hull, stamina.

In the 12th battle, the Mexican was initially disqualified. In the battle against Miguel Ruiz, he struck after the gong. But a little later the result was changed: Chavez won by knockout. And all because his manager was a member of the local sports committee.

The first title

After a couple of fights that were broadcast on American television, Chavez Julio Cesar, having his own record of 44-0, got the opportunity to compete for the WBC belt in the second semi-lightweight title. This was made possible by the release of the title of Hector Camacho. His chance did not miss the Mexican, and on September 13, 1984, he knocked out Mario Martinez in the eighth round, thus receiving the long-awaited champion belt.

Until 1987, Chavez successfully defended his title from the pretenders' claims. From his hands fell such eminent personalities as Juan La Porte, Danilo Cabrero, Roger Mayweather and others.

Moving to a new weight

In 1987, Chávez Julio César, whose photo is shown below, rises to the next weight category, where in November of the same year he meets Edwin Rosario. Puerto Rican too much talked all sorts of nasty things about the Mexican people, and therefore Chavez was motivated as never before. The Mexican gave his opponent a brutal beating and eventually won a technical knockout in the 11th round. Thanks to this victory, Julio became the WBA lightweight champion. After eleven months, Chavez expected another success - he won the WBC belt, defeating the great boxer, the legendary champion Jose Luis Ramírez. For this, Chavez also took 11 rounds.

One more step up

In 1989, a native of Mexico again decided to move to the category above. He is in the first welterweight. In this division, he also becomes the champion, defeating the second time Mayweather, after which he holds two successful defenses, but it's worth talking about the fight with the third challenger separately.

Persistent Meldrick Taylor

March 17, 1990. Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. In the square of Chavez's ring, Julio Cesar Sr., a boxer who was already at the top, met with the 1984 Olympic champion Meldrik Taylor. The American in the course of the fight won on points, effectively using the jab and actively moving on his feet. However, in the 12th round, the champion drove the challenger into the corner and sent the right side to the canvas. After the knockdown, Taylor struggled to get up and to the referee's question: "Are you ready to continue?" He did not say anything. As a result, the Mexican was awarded a victory by knockout. The decision was scandalous enough, and the duel itself was recognized as the best fight of the year. For the sake of fairness, we note that Meldrick was hospitalized after the bout, where as a result of the medical examination he was diagnosed with bleeding in the kidneys, a fracture of the orbital bone near the left eye, and his lip was ripped. Therefore, we can conclude that the referee did the right thing, because he saved the American health and maybe even life.

Gratitude from the President

Chávez Julio César, whose biography is full of vivid events, held another important duel in the fall of 1993. This time, he was confronted by the legendary Hector "Macho" Camacho. Chavez convincingly won the referee's decision. After the end of the fight, a car was sent for him from the President of Mexico, the champion was brought to an audience with the head of the country.

Scandalous draw

In September 1993, Chavez led a unification battle with Pernell Whitaker. The American acted actively and unconventionally, which allowed him to completely neutralize the attacking power of the Mexican. But in the end, a tie was declared. Such a verdict of judges caused a scandal, and many believed that not the least role in this played Don King.

Loss of belt

In early 1994, Julio Cesar Chavez (a world-famous boxer) fought with Frankie Rendall. The Mexican twice was fined for blows below the belt, and in the 11th round in general was first time in the career in the knockdown. All this led to the fact that the judges split in opinions, and the victory was given to the American. But in the spring of the Mexican again met with his offender and took a very unconvincing revenge.

The dramatic confrontation with Oscar De La Hoya for Chavez consisted of two fights, both times the Mexican lost, and ahead of schedule.

Last chance

In the summer of 2000 Chavez was already quite an age fighter, so the opportunity to box for the world title was his last. He understood that in case of defeat, the road to the top for him was forever closed, and in case of victory he got the opportunity to hold on for some time at the peak and earn good money.

In the battle with the Russian Tszyu, the Mexican did not work. Kostya was very cold-blooded and very prudent. He was able to quickly show who the real boss is in the ring, and literally "hammered" the challenger with the left jabs. In the fifth round, Tszyu sent Chávez to a knockdown, after a combination of four strikes. In the sixth round, the Russian again sent a Mexican legend to the floor, the referee stopped the fight, believing that it was a knockout. After the fight, Tszyu said that he fought with a great warrior worthy of respect, and Chavez realized - it's time to retire and give way to a new generation. Nevertheless, he held his last fight in September 2005.

As for the family, for our hero, it plays a special role. Chavez Julio Cesar (personal life is characterized by stability) has been married for many years, he has two sons: the first is Julio Cesar, Jr., and the second is Omar.
