Manual sheet bending of industrial production. How to make a leaf bending with your own hands

In the mass production of products from galvanized sheet, automatic machines with high productivity, roller rolling aggregates, edge banding machines, and devices for rolling gutter seams are used. For the manufacture of metal products and galvanized sheet in small portions, intended, for example, for private construction or a small industrial shop, it is economically advantageous to use manual sheet bending.

What is a sheet bending machine?

New equipment was created to facilitate manual production in the manufacture of metal gutter elements, galvanized aprons, gutters, and other small elements of the roof. Many machines can withstand efforts of hundreds of kilograms, there are powerful ones that work with loads up to a ton. Electromechanical units are small in size, operate at a low noise level, bend a large number of parts in a short time, about several hundred elements per minute.

Design of the manual bending machine

  • The sheet must have a width of not more than 1 m;
  • The inclination of the bent wall is not less than 120º;
  • The maximum number of working cycles without interruption reaches 1200;

Necessary materials

For the device of the bed, a channel is used with the height of No. 12. The bed cushion is made of a wooden beam of a certain size, depending on the design. To produce the right cheek, a sheet metal of 6-9 mm is suitable. For the construction of the pressure beam take corner number 60-80, on the axis of the punch armature is prepared with a diameter of 10 mm. Drawings of manual leafage provide for a punch of the second variant corner No. 80-100 or channel 10. The lever is made of reinforcement with a diameter of 10 mm.

For the design of the punch, it is better to use not a corner, but a channel, since the load on this element is distributed in such a way that the corner will bend in the middle part, which will lead to its premature wear. The additional shelf of the channel will take on the tensile force at work. The equipment with a punch from a channel maintains about 1200 bends, and the machine with the applied corner will break after 250 cycles.

Sequence of assembly of bending equipment

Manual sheet bending is assembled in the sequence provided in the description of the drawings. One after the other, a clamp consisting of a wrench, a heel and a screw is assembled, based on the corner 60, then the cheek is constructed. Next, make a base with bracket from the corner of No. 110, on which the presser beam is arranged. All the parts together with the punch on the axle are attached to the frame.

The pressure beam from below is milled after assembly by welding the entire structural unit. It is not recommended to use a grinder to grind an even surface or to drill with a file. The clamping beam should be further reinforced with rolled metal, and the length should be 5 cm shorter than the base.

At the ends of the clamp make the stoppers from the scraps of the corner. The pressing parts relating to the workpiece material are milled. The center of the shelf on the brackets is equipped with a hole 8 mm in diameter. Drawings of manual leafage provide that the punch is made shorter than the pressing by 100 mm. The lever is made of reinforcement and welded to the punch by welding. To manufacture the cheeks, take a steel sheet and drill holes in it 1 cm to install the axes. On the edge, a facet with a depth of 0.6 cm is taken from the ends, its length is 3.2 cm. When joining by welding axes, it should be taken into account that the direction of their and the edges must coincide.

Safety precautions

The machine belongs to equipment with a high degree of danger, so compliance with the rules should be in the first place. Before you start to study the instruction, determine the technological sequence of manufacturing the product and clearly follow it. A homemade machine or production machine, work should begin with the necessary actions:

  • Put on work clothes and check the presence of hanging and protruding parts, it should not have torn off buttons, lightning inoperations, cuffs buttoned;
