Linguistic Projects

So that the school does not go into the shadows.

How much is said and written about modern education in Russia! How the terms innovation and modernization became relevant! And what an important role the projects are now playing! Social projects are especially popular. This kind of activity is welcomed and encouraged in our country. Thus, the younger generation deepens its knowledge about the native city, the society, acquires the ability to cooperate with the city's structures and with the city's resources. And if children are engaged in substantive projects, then, undoubtedly, they deepen and expand knowledge in a certain scientific field.

Groups of my students interested in linguistics create fascinating cognitive projects that make it possible to present linguistic information to all students of the school and teachers. This kind of work we called linguistic projects. And in such a large format we practice it in our educational institution for the second year. So, we can confidently talk about the emerging tradition. From the experience of work, we can conclude that linguistic projects serve not only scientific knowledge, but also the vocational guidance of schoolchildren, their sense of patriotism, and communicative skills.

In November of this year, 6th grade students, for example, defended their linguistic project "Eri". The children studied ancient Russian texts and scientific literature. And on the basis of the acquired knowledge, an exhibition of curious facts about the letters of soft and hard signs was made, which were formerly called ers and had a sound. Six-formers-guides are a title that opens doors to a successful future.

11 class as a project presented a brochure "Toponymy of my Motherland". Carrying out her own group and individual research, as well as finding information about toponyms in encyclopaedic literature and Internet dictionaries, high school students wrote the history of origin of such toponyms as Russia, Samara, Kinel and other names of some small nearby geographic objects.

The lesson is 40 minutes of routine work? Or is the lesson a moment of creative flash, a eureka, the happiness of knowing?

We work with the guys so that the modern world, full of vivid impressions and knowledge, does not push school to shade, but collaborates with the school. Children should receive at school what they will not get anywhere else. We are talking about the skill of obtaining knowledge in a new, unusual way, about the ability to learn in a team, in pairs, individually. To find out that the toponym Elshnyagi (this is a small town in the Samara region) is formed from the word "Elsh" (alder), every child can search for this information on the Internet. And it is precisely the task of the 21st century school that the child should prefer this linguistic project, which is unproductive from the point of view of personal development. We advise all teachers in their pedagogical activities to practice subject projects, and all children use them in their student activities.
