Military career

As part of the Pskov Airborne Division, the entire army life of the future Hero of Russia will take place, which was extended to 1998 by the commander of the second battalion of the 104th regiment. For 13 years he will visit many hot spots, on his account trips to Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan, Armenia and Afghanistan. Participating in the peacekeeping forces, Evtukhin Mark Nikolayevich will go through a severe school of civil war in Yugoslavia.

He graduated from the Ryazan Airborne School and brother Igor, whose participation in the First Chechen War nearly ended tragically. Nobody could have imagined that this would provoke the bitterness of the militants, who will start making their way here, where the company did not manage to gain a foothold on high ground, and that they will hear all the negotiations, knowing full well that several dozen soldiers are resisting their nearly two thousand strong faction. True, in their slang they were goblins, the most unyielding and powerful opponents - paratroopers, but they were ready to demolish them by number. And wrong. Despite the fact that the company took the fight almost on the march and lost the company in the first skirmish, the command was taken by Evtukhin Mark Nikolayevich, having organized a real rebuff.

90 soldiers and officers restrained detachments of militants for 19 hours, being surrounded on three sides. By morning the fight went into a melee, but the lieutenant colonel instilled confidence and encouraged the personnel with the hope that help would come. In fact, only a dozen people (4th company) under the command of Alexander Dostavalov, who were destined to share the fate of the sixth company, stood up to them at night - to stand up to the last soldier. Yes, the artillery supported the fire, which in close combat does not disassemble, where its own, and where the strangers. After several night attacks by morning, only a few people remained alive. At 6.10 am the lieutenant-colonel got in touch last time. Realizing that the work was done, he reported his coordinates, causing the artillery fire.

Having sacrificed their lives, the paratroopers thwarted the plans of Khattab and Basayev to leave the encirclement. But they will spend the whole day at the height, pulling off the bodies of the hated "goblins", finishing off the seriously wounded and mincing the corpses. Out of 90 people, six remained alive. Twenty-two soldiers and officers, including Lieutenant-Colonel Evtyukhin, will be awarded the title of Hero of Russia, 69 will be awarded the Order of Courage. According to the presidential decree, a monument to the heroes-paratroopers "Kupol", standing next to the highway of federal significance, will be opened in Cherekh. At his opening, Putin will visit in person, and the company will be laureates of the "Warriors of the Spirit" Prize. On March 8 the Hero's body will be delivered to Pskov.
