Lestat de Lyoncourt - character of the "Vampire Chronicles"

A handsome blue-eyed blonde looks studying, slightly arrogant. In his view there is insight and deep age-old wisdom. He knows a kind of universal mystery, to the solution of which he was chosen for a very long time. He reads the interlocutor, understands him with a half-word and even as if he sees thoughts and the most intimate intentions. Meet Lestat de Lioncourt before us.

Brief biography of the character

Lestat is the hero of Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. According to legend, he was born in Auvergne (France) in the distant 1760. Despite the fact that Lestat was heir to the noble family, his childhood and youth passed beyond the poverty line. His ancestors squandered all the accumulated funds.

Of all his relatives, Lestat was recognized only by his mother, Gabriel de Lyoncourt. With the father and older brothers, the hero was not friendly, and even for a time wished them death. Not having close-minded people in his related environment, Lestat could open and trust only his friend Nicolas. It was with him that the young man went to Paris to conquer the capital and become an actor. For a while, Nicolas and Lestat served in the theater "Reno". It was there that a handsome young man was noticed by an ancient vampire named Magnus.

Treatment and a lonely life

Magnus drew Lestat. The process of transformation was difficult, but it was even harder to remain after the transition "beyond the line" to one. Magnus was an ancient vampire, he suffered enough for his long life. Near his beautiful creation he was not long. Magnus decided to finish his earthly journey and burned in a huge fire.

Lestat was left alone. Learning to live in a new guise, he had to independently, because the mentor, who could tell and explain everything, he did not have. Over time, the new convert realized that his fate was not tragic, on the contrary, it opened up new opportunities for an eternally young and handsome young man.

Lestat saved his mother from imminent death. He turned Gabrielle when she was already seriously ill, and helped her to start a new, eternal life. He turned into a vampire he and his longtime friend Nicolas, but he did not endure the burdens of existence in the body of the murderer and just went insane. Lestat therefore was tormented by doubts about the correctness of his actions. Becoming the heir of Magnus, he was now rich. This allowed Lestat to buy the theater "Reno" and give it to Nicolas as a token of apology.

Love adventures and acquaintance with Louis

Lestat had many novels, but all of them turned out to be fleeting. In addition, the young and attractive vampire gravitated not to the young ladies, but to the same beautifully built guys. He himself claimed that women are uninteresting beings. However, initially, while still mortal, Lestat courted one nun, who, unfortunately, later went insane.

The main love of the vampire was Louis de Pont du Lac. His Lestat drew in 1791. Louis himself believed that he was only a toy in the hands of an insidious predator, but de Lyoncourt claimed that this was not so, and his feelings were fierce and fatal.

Claudia and parting with your beloved

Louis and Lestat only stayed together for very little. In 1795, they met a little girl who would have died if she had not been "saved" by a vampire bite. Lestat did this by forgiving Louis's will, and the latter did not want to condemn the baby to eternal suffering. Claudia (the girl's name) started living with two vampires.

Lestat tried to get closer to the baby, but she loved Louis more. She probably just did not forgive someone who left her forever imprisoned in the body of a tiny girl. Claudia even tried to kill Lestat, but her plan failed. After that she fled with Louis together with Europe, and de Lioncourt got the opportunity to visit the mortal body again and even tasted the blood of Christ himself.
