Once upon a time, many, many years ago, a rich merchant lived in the city of Tiflis. He had a lot of wealth, but his most precious treasure was his beautiful daughter Magul-Megery. Once a very poor young man, Ashik-Kerib, fell in love with her, but he could not even dream of such a luxurious bride, because all he could do was play on the saz and in his songs glorify the ancient warriors of Turkestan.
